My mom read my blog about Tony and my 3 year “dateiversary” anniversary, and decided to write a follow up about why SHE loves her future son-in-law. (Awww!) For the record, she HAS called Tony “Tone Bone,” it’s just after a few glasses of chardonnay.

Why I Love Tone (no Bone)

Tony loves my mom enough, he wore this hat for her. A TRAVESTY and BETRAYAL, if you know Tony…

For the record, I’ve never called Tone “Tone Bone” (unless I blacked out after saying it, which is in the realm of possibility…); but, everything else seems pretty accurate so far in my daughter’s various blog accounts.  I thought I would chime in here about why I love The Boy.

Mom, her son, and her future son-in-law.

1. He also calls me “Laur,” my preferred nickname over “Bean Butt.”

2. He keeps my daughter and my granddogs safe.  He has a black belt in, like, everything, and I suspect he can deflect bullets with his bare hands.

3. He can do impressions, wicked funny ones.  From world leaders to family pets, they are all spot on.

4. You know the Boy Scout oath?  On my honor, I will do my best
To do my duty to God and my country and to obey the Scout Law;
To help other people at all times;
To keep myself physically strong, mentally awake and morally straight.  And, the Boy Scout Law? A Scout is: Trustworthy, Loyal, Helpful, Friendly, Courteous, Kind, Obedient, Cheerful, Thrifty, Brave, Clean, and Reverent.  And, the Boy Scout Motto?  Be Prepared!  And, the Boy Scout Slogan?  Do a Good Turn Daily!  Former Eagle Scout Tone is all of these things/creeds rolled into one.  And, who doesn’t love a clean future son-in-law???

5. He will introduce the athleticism gene into our family tree.  Lord knows we need it.

6. He is sunshine in a ripped man body, and brightens every day. Again, what’s not to love?  [Is that kinda creepy?  Sorry, but, I’m just stating fact.  I’m sure, changing the reference to a “she,” Tone says the same thing about me. Oh, who am I kidding? No one says that about me. See #5, above.]

7. He lets me read lines with him, and, then, to make me feel better about myself, he books those parts!  Way to go, Tone!  [Hmmmm…coincidence, or…..]

8. We watch The Walking Dead together.  I sincerely believe he keeps me safe from zombie attack (see #2 above).

9. We chit chat about lots and about nothing.  He can give me hurricane warnings about my daughter.  Huge thanks for the head’s up, Tone!

10. He is utterly lovable, and I can’t count as high as he has friends.  He’s probably already your BFF.  And, why wouldn’t he be?  He is a stand-up guy through and through whose also been known to do stand up—a really funny, really good guy.  I couldn’t be more thrilled that he’s my daughter’s chosen Best Friend Forever.  And, I am proud and lucky he just happens to be mine, too.

P.S. Just to clarify, the picture of Tone in gold short shorts is not at-home loungewear; rather a costume for a sketch show.

P.S. P.S. Best of all, and I should have put this as #1: Tone loves my daughter almost almost as much as I do.

My mom finally joined Facebook today. This was the 3rd picture she posted to her brand-new account. She titled it: “Atonis.”
