This weekend was a whirlwind of happiness with my bridal shower (blog on that epic magic tomorrow!), Tony’s School of Rock wrap party, and having three of the women I love most in this world in L.A. – my childhood bestie and co-Maid of Honor Jax, my mom and my Grandma Marilyn. It was all capped off by my very first wedding gown fitting yesterday!

Moms Face

{This is what my mom’s face looked like when I walked out in my dress}

I loved it even more than I remembered, probably because I got to watch my grandmother’s reaction when she saw me in it for the first time. She went to Harvard and is more interested in building computers than putting on lipstick. She believed in telling girls they were smart instead of pretty as a compliment way before it was trendy parenting advice. I’ve never seen her gasp over something as frivolous as a gown before and I’ve got to tell you, it was a moment I’ll remember for the rest of my life.

I’m super relieved to say the dress fit! And it was even a little too big around the waist! The juice cleansing and swamp smoothies paid off! (Probably would have paid off more if I hadn’t single-handedly eaten the majority of a 2-tier peanut butter chocolate marble wedding cake from my bridal shower.) By “fit,” however, I mean that the older alterations gentleman had to tuck me into it. He politely looked away while I stuffed myself in. (I think we were both equally embarrassed.) I’d also been struggling with whether to wear heels or not – Tony and I are nearly the same height, and the wedding will be on a very grassy, rocky, uneven sloped lawn. But after trying the dress on with and without shoes, vanity won out. So, if you know of a really comfortable pair of heels I won’t bite the dirt in, please comment below!

Tony and I have been engaged for so long, the wedding was starting to feel like a bizarre obsession and not the celebration of officially syncing my life up with my favorite person in the world. But, it’s gradually started to feel more real, no more than this weekend. I’m very, very lucky to be surrounded by so many incredible women who all came out to support me in this huge moment in my life. I can’t wait to share it all tomorrow!

    I don’t know what style you’re looking for, but I wore the Lulu Townsend daffodil pump at my wedding and even though the heel was high it was SO incredibly comfortable :)
