{My handsome husband visited his alma mater, the Virginia Military Institute, yesterday and texted me this pic}

It’s 5:15am and I’ve got to bust a move for the airport to meet my hubs and his fam in chilly D.C. (Here’s hoping I packed appropriately.) I spent all my time curling my hair before the sun came up, so this little love note to you is a gonna be a tad short. THANK YOU for reading and supporting this blog! This week, and always, I am grateful for YOU. I hope you have a beautiful weekend. Follow me on Instagram for my adventures in our nation’s capital with my love, and check back Monday for a very special post celebrating our 6-month wedding anniversary! X A P.S. Also grateful for the following…

Tony and I have been friends on Facebook for 5 years! Fun fact: Shortly after he friended me on the ‘book, I invited him to my birthday party. On the wall of the invite, for all to see, he wrote “I don’t know who you are.” YOU DO NOW, TONY!

This pic, which I realized I never shared! For our holiday party, we asked guests to bring old towels and blankets so we could donate them to local animal shelters. THIS was our haul, and looking at it makes my heart full. We have the most generous and loving friends. (P.S., if you have any old towels or blankets lying around, animal shelters are always in dire need! Google the one closest to you and just show up, they keep collection bins right out in the lobby so you don’t get tempted to accidentally adopt a dog or five.)

Brunch at Jon & Vinny’s, easily one of my favorite restaurants in Los Angeles (and the world).

The hilarious and brilliant Jon Benjamin (of Bob’s Burgers), who recorded an entire jazz album without ever learning to play the piano. Tony’s brother told us about this when he was visiting last weekend, and we all died laughing listening to it en route to a breakfast burrito binge at Cofax.

These gorgeous notes from readers that are STILL making me smile.

Writing outside.

Tony is super obsessed with Tim Ferriss, and told me I should listen to his podcast with Whitney Cummings on Turning Pain Into Creativity. I listened to it at the gym this week, and may or may not have cried over it in public. So good.

Katierose and I discovered a new spot that is sure to become a regular fave, Rubies + Diamonds. They have as many tea and coffee options as they do wine and beer. And everyone who works there is nice! I stuck to Dry January and had Nitro Ginger Ale Green Tea. It was BLISS.

Driving through the hills at night with all the windows down, and Janet Jackson’s “All For You” coming onto the radio.

Painting hearts at CHLA.

Going to listen to a motivational speaker with my friend Barbara (because I guess that’s just where I’m at in life), and the speaker, Dr. Donna Dannenfelser, saying to write the following two things on Post-Its and put them on your mirror: If I wasn’t afraid, what would I do? and There are no mistakes.
