gratitude list

{ Despite what it looks like, I am NOT sucking on a sour lemon slice and AM enjoying myself on last night’s walk. }

This week has been insane (what week isn’t, I guess? Wouldn’t it be a bad sign if we were just chilling out and doing nothing? That’s what I tell myself as I watch stress wrinkles grow on my face in live action.) Tony and I realized early on this week that we wouldn’t see each other almost every night, but we actually had more quality time than usual because of this, planning fun stuff outside of our regular routine. One morning, we woke up super early to take the dogs for a walk before he had to go to work, and last night we loaded the pups in the car, drove to a new neighborhood for a change of scenery, walked to a restaurant and ate outside on the patio. (Sidenote: The dogs’ gratitude list this week would consist solely of the tater tots we fed them from the table like the garbage people we are.) It was low-key and more fun than a fancy date (strong words coming from this high maintenance diva). This weekend is stacked with birthday parties, engagement parties and watching my bestie kill it in Ma’am, and I can’t wait. Here’s what I’m grateful for right now:

Last night’s walk around Lake Hollywood, then Toluca Lake. We like lakes.

Spicy strawberry margaritas.

My badass friend Molly’s new website, Game Changers: The Unsung Heroines, sharing stories about the female athletes history forgot (or ignored). Her book comes out in October, and the stories and pictures are so wonderful and inspiring. (You can even submit stories from your own relatives – did your grandma have a secret talent for water skiing? Send it in!)

This pic of my grandma. She and my mom went on an impromptu midweek girls trip to Vegas and lived it up. I was going to write an entire blog dedicated to my mom’s phone call to me the first night they were there, but she shouted “DON’T YOU DARE!” and I’m scared of her so I didn’t.

This video, which made me laugh so hard this morning.

This staring contest between Maggie and Tippi. It went on for a solid minute. Maggie won. Please ignore the gym Tony has turned our living room into.

CHOCOLATE. Compartes in L.A. is my favorite, and Tony surprised me with a few bars because he knows I like to eat my feelings.

Catching an advance screening of Neighbors 2. It was SO FUNNY. I loved it. I never saw the first one, but I can’t wait to. And I’m excited to go back to the theaters to see this one again with Tony.

How grey it’s been every morning. (Rain is my natural habitat.) I’m still wearing SPF 70 to sit by the window and write, but I am comforted by the fact that I can’t actually see the sun trying to kill me.

The gorgeous wedding we were so honored to attend in Santa Barbara. Every detail was perfect. I didn’t get a good pic of the bride and groom, but I DID get some great pics of the basil pistachio ravioli that I will dream of for the rest of my days.

My husband, who likes to chug Rockstar energy drinks while playing video games over breakfast.

HAPPY WEEKEND!

    This week is a great week. I didn’t see a lot of my husband due to a work trip I had to take, but we did celebrate one year of wedded bliss on Monday :) I’m looking forward to a weekend of doing nothing though after all the running around I’ve been doing this last month. Hope you and Tony get to enjoy the same soon!

    I love that you have “as wild as it gets” right next to the “juicing Bible”. Yin/Yang. And that your dogs are blonde rock stars!
