Tony’s Sunday Brunch

April 6, 2015 12:42 pm Published by Comments Off on Tony’s Sunday Brunch

Tony got up early on Easter Sunday to surprise me by cooking brunch for us to eat up on the deck. Then he wrote this guest blog, so I would have more time today to get the rest of my work done. Sorry, ladies (and gents), he's taken! #fullbrag #DoYouHateMeYet??View Article

Coachella Vibes

April 3, 2015 5:10 pm Published by 4 Comments

Coachella is coming up next weekend and, while Tony and I aren't going (too much money, dirt, heat, sun and people), I'm all about dressing like I'm going. Our friend Justin is much cooler than we are and invited us to Topshop's Stillhouse Original Moonshine Coachella event at the Grove last night, where I had the luxury of sipping some sort of peach tea liquor combo (it was so good I don't even remember what, exactly, it was) while a fabulous personal shopper named Gio told me I was pretty and picked out things for me to wear. I felt like a hipster Cinderella, only instead of a glass slipper, I was trying on cut-off shorts and crop tops. (Also, the glass slipper fit Cinderella. The cut-off shorts did not fit me. Cursing all the frosting I've been eating lately. Ate cheese fries after anyway because I have no willpower. The wedding is less than four months away.) And at the end of the night, my personal Prince Charming Tony surprised me by buying my favorite outfits... My kind of night! Here's my favorite look for Coachella, featuring a crop top (with convenient fringe to hide my jelly belly) I got last night. JUST PLEASE COMMENT BELOW & TELL ME I'M ON FLEEK, GUYS.View Article

My First Camping Trip (As An Adult)

April 2, 2015 2:08 pm Published by Comments Off on My First Camping Trip (As An Adult)

Legend (truth) has it that the one and only time my parents took me camping as a kid, I asked the park ranger where the room service menu was. I was 7 or 8, I think. My parents realized it was too late. They’d raised a spoiled diva princess. (They were right.) My idea of “camping” is staying at a hotel that doesn’t have a bathtub or turn-down service. I don’t do well without a place to plug my phone and curling iron into. I want a complimentary bathrobe and someone in a tuxedo bringing me food in bed.View Article

Father Daughter Dance Songs?

March 31, 2015 9:11 am Published by 4 Comments

Tony’s stepsister Steph and her husband Steve are both beautiful humans and musicians, and they have generously offered to share their talents for our wedding. I am so excited, especially because we had such an amazing time at their perfect wedding in Idaho this summer. They’ll be playing for the 30 minutes of guest arrivals, as well as the processional, and bride’s entrance. They can play pretty much anything, but Steve suggested we narrow things down to the acoustic guitar and, possibly, the banjo. To say my dad is thrilled is an understatement. He’s obsessed with the banjo. He’ll tell you he can even play it, but I haven’t seen evidence of that... Although he says he played for me when I was a kid, I must have been too young to remember. But anything with the banjo really touches his soul.View Article

An Adult At The Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards: A Personal Reflection

March 30, 2015 7:05 am Published by 2 Comments

This past Saturday, I got to be Tony’s date to Nickelodeon’s 2015 Kids' Choice Awards. The inner 12-year-old in me was freaking out. If you’d told that chubby girl with a bad perm and a love for denim skorts, feverishly dialing to vote for "Kenan & Kel," that she would one day be the arm candy of a Nickelodeon star on the orange carpet, she would have lost her mind.View Article

Nickelodeon Announces The Kids Of SCHOOL OF ROCK!

March 26, 2015 10:55 am Published by 2 Comments

Nickelodeon and Paramount announced the full cast of "School of Rock" today! Breanna Yde is set as Tomika, Jade Pettyjohn as Summer, Ricardo Hurtado as Freddy, Lance Lim as Zack, and Aidan Miner as Lawrence. And they are AWESOME. I actually met Jade a few years ago, when she starred in "Prodigal," a short film my roommate and friend Ben Grayson co-wrote and directed and I executive produced. (She was as talented, sweet and professional then as she is now.) All of the kids are talented, sweet and professional; Tony lucked out big time, landing this group for his co-stars. Every day he comes home from work, he’s bubbling about how great they are and how fun his job is. He loves working with them.View Article

Elevated Coffee: Matcha Green Tea Latte

March 25, 2015 12:11 pm Published by 4 Comments

I can't afford to go to Urth Caffe every morning (nor do I like to get out of my pajamas every morning), and so my solution is to make a "fancy coffee drink" at home. It's on my list to learn how to make my own almond milk like all those girls on Pinterest who seem to have their lives together, but for now, baby steps... I'm mixing store-bought almond milk with Matcha Green Tea Powder to create a green tea latte.View Article
