{Epic east coast sunset. We were running off burgers and cake, and stopped to selfie because we are L.A. kids at heart.}
Tony and I spent a long weekend in Washington D.C. visiting his family, and had so much fun I’m dedicating today’s gratitude list entirely to that trip. We got to attend his niece’s 6th birthday party, eat cake every day and even play tourists with a day of museum-hopping. I’m not a morning person (understatement of the century), but there is no better alarm clock in the world than two little kids crawling into bed to snuggle and say, “I love you, Aunt Annie.” HEAVEN. We’re back home now playing catch-up (I finally figured out what day it is – FRIDAY!!!!), and trying to work off some of that cake (I dragged Tony to a dance class last night. He was better than me.) Here are some of the moments in D.C. I’m grateful for…
{Tony + Tony’s mom Nanny + Tony’s “brother” Astro Boy}
{Tony teaching our niece and nephew how to break dance.}
{Werking it with the birthday girl.}
{Sunday morning homemade breakfast spread. Tony went to McDonalds every morning to get me a latte, probably in hopes of making me a nicer human in the AM. But also just because he is a nice human always.}
{My hubs, in front of the preschool he went to a few decades ago.}
{You guys, I have a confession to make. I broke Dry January on January 31. I was so close… BUT THE VIRGINIA GENTLEMAN GOT ME. (Twice.)}
{Dinner at Jackson 20 in Old Town Alexandria with Tony’s old VMI buddies. I had PIMENTO CHEESE RAVIOLI. (And gnocchi carbonara as an appetizer, because I have zero self control.)}
{Old Town Alexandria at night.}
{Watching my husband hold his friend’s tiny new baby.}
{And get competitive with the 6-year-old guests at our niece’s birthday party.}
{And then dress up as a pirate to surprise the kids.}
{Birthday pirate with her pirate cake. My sister-in-law MADE that, btw. It tasted as good as it looked. (Tony and I stood in the corner of the party and helped ourselves to thirds, while the rest of the kids were still finishing their first slices.)}
{We love Good Stuff Eatery so much, we ate there twice. I’m regretting that now, as I try to squeeze into my clothes.}
{An emotional morning at the Holocaust Memorial Museum. I wrote more about why we went earlier this week.}
{And then a silly, fun afternoon at the International Spy Museum.}
{Tony said it must have been a real pain in the BUTT to be a spy back in the ’60’s.}
{I pretended to be a Bond Girl at their special exhibit.}
{My fake identity at the spy museum.}
{The stuff dreams are made of, at Momofuku Milk Bar.}
{The Washington Monument at night.}
{One more of that sunset. THAT SUNSET, THOUGH.}
{Flying home over the Grand Canyon.}
HAPPY WEEKEND!
