My favorite (and only) husband Tony appeared on this morning's episode of "Home & Family" on the Hallmark Channel! They filmed it yesterday at Universal Studios, and I had the best time wife'ing it up in the wings. I sat in the front row of the audience and made wife faces at all the silly things Tony said, and I'm pretty sure there are some meme-worthy reaction shots of me rolling my eyes or giving over-eager thumbs up. They showed a clip of the tape that got him a live SNL audition in New York four years ago, and they also shared a clip from the audition tape that landed him "School of Rock." It got me really emotional, thinking about how far he has come and where we are now. Specifically, that his career is in a place that he gets to be on a morning talk show and drag me along, and I get to watch him with googly eyes in total disbelief I was somehow lucky enough to marry him. And snack on Joy Bauer's healthy jalapeno poppers and chocolate cupcakes with avocado frosting and then TALK TO HER (I'm a foodie fangirl. You know this.) AND be in close proximity to the baby pigs on set. I didn't get to hold them, but I did stare at them for a long, long time and take about 10 million pictures (which I will share in Friday's gratitude list). I also learned that they are 1) up for adoption and 2) can grow to be 650 lbs. Tony, you were asking what I want for my birthday next week and I think I know! If you're as antsy as me for the weekend to just get here already ("School of Rock" premieres this Saturday after the Kids Choice Awards and I am SO. EXCITED.), here are some distractions to help get you through... HAPPY HUMP DAY!View Article

Over the holidays, I raided my mom's closet instead of going on a shopping spree. She's a babe now, and she was a total babe when she was my age (she was a flight attendant back when they were still called "stewardesses" and had to do now-illegal things like weigh-ins). I inherited my hoarding habits from her, so I figured I would probably come up with some gorgeous vintage looks and I was right... She held on to so much cool stuff from the '70s and '80s, and one of my favorite finds is this embroidered shift dress she bought before I was born on a trip to Panama (where her mom, my grandmother, grew up). I've been wearing it non-stop lately, but thought it was especially perfect for our recent trip to Mexico...View Article
Actor//writer//Mom of the Century//my bestie Barbara King-Wilson is back with her latest on the (hilarious) perils of motherhood in Los Angeles. This week, crawl with her down the maddening rabbit hole that is the L.A. school system... This is Part I of her series on getting into the most exclusive, expensive, desirable club: No, not Soho House. YOUR KID'S SCHOOL. (FYI Barb, this makes me even more terrified to have kids. But, it also made me laugh a lot. And want to bring you a strong cocktail in a to-go coffee mug, because I think you need some liquid courage for these school tours...)View Article
It's back to reality for this birthday baby (it's my birthday month. My actual birthday is in less than two weeks. Let me have my moment OK?) We've been home from Mexico for a few days now, and I'm still scrambling to catch up. Still haven't unpacked, only showered once, and tried to get back to my normal workout routine in between work, but my body is still mostly made of tequila and tacos right now. I went to a class called "Tabata" this morning, and fell off the stack of risers we were supposed to leaping on and off of, and for the rest of the class the teacher treated me like the kid who eats paste, demonstrating the "modifications" while making heavy eye contact with me and saying, "Good! You can do it, baby steps! Good!" anytime I even remotely attempted anything else. We were both embarrassed for me. Oh well. Baby steps is right. The exciting news in my "office" (kitchen table, for it's proximity to the pantry) is that I got a ghostwriting job! Basically, that means I'm being paid to write a screenplay that will have someone else's name on it as the writer. It's a hilarious idea, I love the people I'm working with and am SO GRATEFUL for the opportunity to be a legit, paid writer. It was a real gift getting this job before I turn 30, as I have been reallyreallyreally hard on myself for where I'm at in life as I prepare to hit that milestone. So that is at the top of my gratitude list right now (as is our Mexican adventure, for obvious reasons). Here are the other things bringing my happiness right now...View Article
In exactly two weeks, I will be 30. I'm having a very unoriginal crisis over that fact. Tony and I also have a bucket list of travel destinations we want to hit before we have kids. Our lives are about to get wildly busy with his show premiering next week ("School of Rock!" Nickelodeon! March 12! Please watch!!) And our friend Kara is the best travel agent on the planet, who hooks us up with the most insane deals. Those are the factors that led to our stupidly over-the-top vacation in Mexico for an early birthday celebration that I'm about to assault your eyeballs with. This is probably my most Marie Antoinette-esque, not so #humblebrag as much as #BRAGBRAGBRAG post I've written to date. Just know it's a highlight reel. I'm only sharing photos where I'm sucking my stomach in so hard I'm probably crushing my uterus (or kidneys or whatever, I didn't pass science with flying colors). I also didn't post any photos from the night I ate so many tacos I barfed. Or any of the photos of my mom telling me to make a career pivot, and consider abandoning Hollywood and becoming a travel agent instead. I'm just sharing my favorite parts of this unforgettable, epic trip. VIVA MEXICO!View Article
WE'RE BAAAAACK! (Trying to sound excited over the keyboard, even though I'm weighed down by about 15 lbs of tacos and margs, and the general ennui of crawling back to reality. How melodramatic for a Wednesday mid-morning!) I know I told you I'd be back to the blog Tuesday, but I lied (sorry sorry sorry). We were scheduled to fly back Monday, but were having so much fun we pushed our flight and stayed an extra night. SO, we're back on schedule a day late: lovable links today, a post with all the juicy taco-filled deets about our Mexican getaway tomorrow and gratitude list Friday. Thanks for letting me escape life for a few days and drown myself in booze and sunscreen. It was a 30th birthday trip for the books. We got home late last night, and I dragged myself to a workout class at 6:30 this morning. Pretty sure my sweat smelled like tequila, but I didn't pass out or barf so I'm calling it a WIN. I got a writing job (!!) that pays in actual money (not potential and dreams) that I need to buckle down on stat, but if you'd like to procrastinate for me, here is the clickbait catching my eye this breezy Wednesday morning...
