Tony and I spent a long weekend in Washington D.C. visiting his family, and had so much fun I'm dedicating today's gratitude list entirely to that trip. We got to attend his niece's 6th birthday party, eat cake every day and even play tourists with a day of museum-hopping. I'm not a morning person (understatement of the century), but there is no better alarm clock in the world than two little kids crawling into bed to snuggle and say, "I love you, Aunt Annie." HEAVEN. We're back home now playing catch-up (I finally figured out what day it is - FRIDAY!!!!), and trying to work off some of that cake (I dragged Tony to a dance class last night. He was better than me.) Here are some of the moments in D.C. I'm grateful for...View Article

For February's Book Club pick, I'm choosing Kristin Hannah's "The Nightingale," a novel so good I dragged Tony to the holocaust museum on our 6-month wedding anniversary to see their special exhibit, "Some Were Neighbors: Collaboration & Complicity in the Holocaust," which was the backdrop for this page-turning story. Set during WWII, it's not about the soldiers or the war front, but rather what was happening to the people left behind - primarily, the women, children and men deemed to old to fight. All at once, it's a love story, a story of survival and (most interesting of all), the quieter, less-celebrated acts of heroism by women. COULD NOT PUT IT DOWN.View Article
As of today, I have officially been Mrs. Cavalero for six months! I can't believe it's been half a year since we said "I do." I feel like we've been married forever, and I also feel like it was just yesterday that I was surrounded by my favorite people in my favorite place, celebrating my life with my favorite person. I wish I could re-live that entire week in Tahoe over and over and over. In these first six months, I've learned a lot. Namely: I love Tony more every day. I am not ready for kids yet (Tony is). I am ready for more dogs (Tony is not). And bad days are better - and good days the best - because I have a teammate to share them with. Five months ago, I wrote my thoughts on our first month of marriage. Today, I'm sharing a special guest blog with my husband Tony's thoughts on marriage, now that we've reached the half-way mark to our first anniversary...View Article
It's 5:15am and I've got to bust a move for the airport to meet my hubs and his fam in chilly D.C. (Here's hoping I packed appropriately.) I spent all my time curling my hair before the sun came up, so this little love note to you is a gonna be a tad short. THANK YOU for reading and supporting this blog! This week, and always, I am grateful for YOU. I hope you have a beautiful weekend. Follow me on Instagram for my adventures in our nation's capital with my love, and check back Monday for a very special post celebrating our 6-month wedding anniversary! X A P.S. Also grateful for the following...View Article
I like to mix this baby up in the AM because I feel like I'm drinking all of the healthy things I need in one fell swoop, and am thus giving myself permission to eat cupcakes and fried chicken for the rest of the day. (Nutritionists tell me that is not how that works, but I disagree.) I love all things spicy, and when I sip this it almost feels like I'm drinking a jalapeƱo margarita with my breakfast (not gonna lie, I did in fact use the leftover jalapeƱos from my homemade spicy tequila for a few mornings, so I guess they were morning margaritas. I choose to call them "Tequila-Flavored Green Juices.") But this recipe is alcohol-free because it's Dry January and we're all trying to be "new me's" in this new year! So sip on, and know you're giving your body the nutrients it needs to fight those cupcake/fried chicken/tequila binges.View Article
