sweaterdress (ie Snuggie you can wear in public)

Okay, it's not ACTUALLY a Snuggie. It's just the coziest outfit of all time. Just in time for Thanksgiving, here is an outfit to sub in for your traditional eating pants/athleisure wear that you can comfortably go back to the buffet for thirds (or fourths) in without busting a button. I'm still in Texas shooting a movie (!!!!), but here are some pics I forced Tony to take while we were in Vancouver! Since Maggie ate these shoes, I'm going to wear this cocoon of softness with booties from here on out. HAPPY ALMOST-WEEKEND!View Article

It's 5am, SoCal time. I'm flying to Texas this morning, where I'll be shooting AN AMERICAN IN TEXAS for the next few days! My parents roll into town later today with their two giant dogs, and they'll be staying with us for over a week. Tony will be spending lots of one-on-one time with them while I'm gone because he is a saint. We're hosting Thanksgiving this year, and so far there are 9 confirmed dogs on the guest list. (Again, Tony is a saint.) I'm off for the airport... Here are the articles I'll be trolling while I wait for my flight!View Article

GrandBettye’s Corn Pudding

In anticipation of Thanksgiving next week, I'm sharing my GrandBettye's Corpus Christi Corn Pudding recipe on the blog today. I took over making it for the holidays - it's my brother Billy's favorite and Tony always asks me to make it on his birthday, too. We had our caterer make it for our wedding so GrandBettye could be a part of the day even if she couldn't be there, and of all the recipes I make, this is the one people ask me for the most...View Article

How I Ended Up In Hollywood

I've been thinking a lot about how we end up where we do, and why, lately. Today, I'm talking about how I came to Hollywood and ended up living in the hills of Los Angeles with three dogs and a husband I love very much.View Article

This morning, I scheduled Tony and my first double date FOR 2016. It's such a cliche, but it's wild how fast this year has flown by (probably because I spent over half of it in a feral wedding planning vortex.) This has been a week of reflection, climbing back on the Hollywood horse, and actively trying to remind myself every day that if I'm going to remain committed to chasing a career in this insane industry, I might as well try to remain hopeful and happy, too. It's a process, and some days I'm better than others. Tony and I had a pitch that I'm excited about (and not just because it would mean getting paid to work with my husband), and with the window closing on 2015, I'm trying to get as much done as I can on the projects I hope will actually come to life in the Year of the Monkey. (Side note - Add to 2016 goals: Get an ACTUAL monkey.) So, I'm going to go write some things other than this blog that maybe one day I'll be able to share on the blog! (And also, I need to unpack all the crap I ordered online at 2am the other night before Tony gets home and finds out what I've done). While I do that, here is some internet procrastination candy... #TGIT!View Article

November Book Club: DEAD RINGER

November 11, 2015 10:49 am Published by Comments Off on November Book Club: DEAD RINGER

My insanely talented friend Jessie Rosen wrote a novel and it was released TODAY! It's called "Dead Ringer" and is a badass thriller that is a mash-up of all my favorite things in a book: A little bit of "Gone Girl," a little bit of Hitchcock, a little bit of "Pretty Little Liars." So, obviously, this is November's Book Club pick. It also happens to be a YA novel, further incentive to get into it, (because those are SO COOL right now, and also so you have something to talk to your high school-aged niece about over Thanksgiving, and make her think you're cool. ) Check out Jessie's Q&A about the book, her writing process, and for advice for writers and women in Hollywood!View Article

(Healthy) Chicken Salad

The one upside to gaining weight is that your boobs get bigger... Every other aspect blows. I've been partying hard since arriving in Tahoe for our wedding a few months ago, and the jig is finally up. I tried to get into a pair of pants yesterday that fit just fine pretty recently. I eventually got them on, but it was a sweaty struggle that left me in tears and left a mark on my belly when I wriggled out of them at the end of the day. (I still had a cupcake - wearing said pants - later in the day because I have zero self control.) I LOVE to eat. I live to eat. Whoever said nothing tastes as good as skinny feels (Kate Moss, maybe? Probably.) never ate pasta at Jon & Vinny's, or pizza at Sotto, or beef and pickle tacos at Escuela Taqueria, or a cheeseburger at The Nice Guy, or a fried chicken sandwich at The Darkroom, or cake at SusieCakes... You see how I got myself into this little (literal) jam. So, in anticipation of the holidays, I'm attempting to eat healthy and make the slow, miserable crawl back toward my wedding-weight. In an effort to make it slightly less miserable, I'm trying to come up with low-calorie spins on my favorite dishes. Like today: Chicken salad.View Article
