Tony and I are going to a wedding tomorrow and I can't wait. I LOVE LOVE. (And also free food. And booze. And any and every excuse to dress up. Did I mention the food, though?) It's only a few hours away, but I'm so excited to get out of town (again) and take a mental break. I was particularly psychologically abusive toward myself this week over some career stuff and some friend stuff and just some life stuff in general, and I'm ready to reenact a Deep Thoughts by Jack Handey meme and contemplate my place in this world by the ocean while I'm hungover post-wedding, probably noshing on a street burrito. I hope you have the same relaxing, recharging, burrito-filled weekend that I am wishing upon myself. Here's what I'm grateful for right now...View Article
Today, I am most grateful that I woke up in Austin, Texas, one of Tony and my favorite cities on planet Earth. We're not staying at our usual haunt, the Hotel Saint Cecilia, but we are staying at a hotel that offers free margaritas from 4-6pm and has gold ice buckets in the room, so I am a happy lady (and, in a few hours, will be a happy drunk. FREE MARGS, guys. It's the Hotel Van Zandt, if you're wondering.) We're currently in town with my parents supporting my brother and his girlfriend as they compete in the DreamHack competition because my family travels like a herd of wildebeests - if one of us is doing something interesting, everyone else has to come along. We got in last night (Tony was mistaken for a woman at the airport, which made me pee a little from laughing), and as soon as we rolled up, we loaded up on the complimentary booze and went for a stroll along the river. It's shaping up to be a great, food-fueled weekend and I hope yours is just as wonderful! Here's what I'm grateful for right now...View Article
This week has felt like an insane fever dream. We've been living like we're in college - I had dinner last night at 11:45pm for the second time this week. We've also been living like new parents, waking up every 2 hours because of Tony's bronchitis cough, or my dead panic over the direction of my life (or to check in at 5:30am for jury duty because I forgot). (I am fully aware that if you are a new parent, you both hate me for saying that and are laughing hysterically at how very much I underestimate the lack of sleep that comes with new parenthood). This weekend, I'm looking forward to sleeping like a normal childless human, eating green things and generally behaving like the boring 30-year-old I am. I have some super exciting news to share on the blog next week, so stay tuned! In the meantime, here is what I am grateful for right now...View Article
This week, I have been trying to take it easy - that's not to say I did less with my time, it's just that I tried to operate more peacefully. Somewhere along the line, I convinced myself that I'm not working hard enough unless I'm stressed out of my mind. (Not healthy.) Shockingly, I found that I got just as much, if not more, done and wasn't a wreck at the end of the day and had enough mental space left for quality time with Tony, instead of trolling social media like a zombie until passing out. It's his first week back at "School of Rock" and we're both re-adjusting to the new schedule and all of the exciting crazy stuff that comes along with the show being on the air (this week, someone started a Mrs. Tony Cavalero Instagram account and just re-posts my pictures with Tony. I am both flattered and hopeful he/she doesn't get more followers than me...) It was nice to sneak time together whenever we could, and my favorite moment this week was when we made nachos at 9pm in our pajamas after not seeing each other for 3 days. We have a packed weekend of plans with people we adore and don't see often enough, and I can't wait. Happy Friday! Here's what I'm grateful for right now...View Article
HAPPY FRIDAY! It's raining here in L.A., giving me the joyful rush of adrenaline that most people feel when it's suns out/guns out time. I LOVE RAIN. With my see-through skin and sunscreen obsession, I probably belong in the pacific northwest, but alas, Hollywood isn't there and neither is my husband...View Article
Not to sound like a crotchety old woman but guys, what happened to El Nino? Is it still coming? Because we had to turn on our air conditioning last night, and I'm worried it was all a lie. And I am not ready for Shorts/Sweaty Season. Ok, rant over. This week, I am most grateful to be home with my husband and dogs, settling back into our routine after the wild, wonderful and overall insane few weeks of Tony's show premiering. It was exciting, emotional and a learning curve for both of us; I, for example, learned I would make a terrible politician's wife. This weekend, I'm looking forward to curling up with a book and some allergy meds in the backyard up on our deck and lying comatose for a few days straight. I'm also excited to get mani pedis to celebrate a friend's birthday, catch up on The Americans and spend Easter with my family. Here's what I'm grateful for right now...View Article
