This week has been a wild ride. I got to perform in a sketch show (something I haven't done in a long, long time) called MA'AM, produced by my best friend Katierose with a rotating cast that features some of the funniest ladies in L.A. This month, I was fortunate enough to be a part of it. I performed an old sketch I wrote years ago (see: pic above) in which I play a lunch-shift stripper. It was the first thing Tony ever saw me do, before he even met me, and he always tells people that watching it was the moment he fell in love with me. And hearing that always makes me feel like the luckiest girl in the world, because I could not have looked more disturbing. He fell in love because I made him laugh. I wanted to do that sketch because performing it is just pure joy, and reminded me of the time in the Groundlings Sunday Company when we were falling in love and chasing our dreams sosososo hard and wondering if things would ever work out. And now, Tony is starring on a TV show. Getting up on stage and doing it felt a little like putting armor on against the world for this huge coming week: I turn 30 (not happy about it), and much more importantly, Tony's show "School of Rock" premieres tomorrow, both hugely emotional things for us. It sounds cheesy, but getting to perform that sketch with Tony and my best friends put things in perspective. Even though this town is insane, we have a rock-solid support team. We lend each other wigs. We drive across town in the rain to sit in the audience in a theater with more people onstage than in the crowd. We celebrate each others' successes, and bring wine and french fries when a casting associate asks us "Did you even look in the mirror today?" We love each other, run lines with each other, and believe in each other no matter what. I am so grateful for those people in our lives, and I am beyond proud of my husband and everyone involved with "School of Rock." I hope you watch it tomorrow (on Nickelodeon, right after the Kids' Choice Awards!) and I hope you love it. Here is everything else I am grateful for this week...View Article

It's back to reality for this birthday baby (it's my birthday month. My actual birthday is in less than two weeks. Let me have my moment OK?) We've been home from Mexico for a few days now, and I'm still scrambling to catch up. Still haven't unpacked, only showered once, and tried to get back to my normal workout routine in between work, but my body is still mostly made of tequila and tacos right now. I went to a class called "Tabata" this morning, and fell off the stack of risers we were supposed to leaping on and off of, and for the rest of the class the teacher treated me like the kid who eats paste, demonstrating the "modifications" while making heavy eye contact with me and saying, "Good! You can do it, baby steps! Good!" anytime I even remotely attempted anything else. We were both embarrassed for me. Oh well. Baby steps is right. The exciting news in my "office" (kitchen table, for it's proximity to the pantry) is that I got a ghostwriting job! Basically, that means I'm being paid to write a screenplay that will have someone else's name on it as the writer. It's a hilarious idea, I love the people I'm working with and am SO GRATEFUL for the opportunity to be a legit, paid writer. It was a real gift getting this job before I turn 30, as I have been reallyreallyreally hard on myself for where I'm at in life as I prepare to hit that milestone. So that is at the top of my gratitude list right now (as is our Mexican adventure, for obvious reasons). Here are the other things bringing my happiness right now...View Article
HAPPY HEART DAY LONG WEEKEND, LOVERS! I'm so excited for a 3-day bender of sleeping, eating and time with the hubs and our besties. We've packed our weekend with the best things in life: I'm hiking and brunching with an old friend I haven't seen since our wedding, we're catching "Zoolander 2" on a triple date, having friends over for a pizza night so we can hear all about the honeymoon they just got home from, and hosting a Valentine's Day double date. We're grilling out and cooking dinner at home in our fanciest sweats, then parking ourselves in front of the TV to catch the mid-season premiere of "The Walking Dead." Here's what I'm grateful for right now, in this unseasonably warm February week in LA LA Land...View Article
Tony and I spent a long weekend in Washington D.C. visiting his family, and had so much fun I'm dedicating today's gratitude list entirely to that trip. We got to attend his niece's 6th birthday party, eat cake every day and even play tourists with a day of museum-hopping. I'm not a morning person (understatement of the century), but there is no better alarm clock in the world than two little kids crawling into bed to snuggle and say, "I love you, Aunt Annie." HEAVEN. We're back home now playing catch-up (I finally figured out what day it is - FRIDAY!!!!), and trying to work off some of that cake (I dragged Tony to a dance class last night. He was better than me.) Here are some of the moments in D.C. I'm grateful for...View Article
It's 5:15am and I've got to bust a move for the airport to meet my hubs and his fam in chilly D.C. (Here's hoping I packed appropriately.) I spent all my time curling my hair before the sun came up, so this little love note to you is a gonna be a tad short. THANK YOU for reading and supporting this blog! This week, and always, I am grateful for YOU. I hope you have a beautiful weekend. Follow me on Instagram for my adventures in our nation's capital with my love, and check back Monday for a very special post celebrating our 6-month wedding anniversary! X A P.S. Having that kind of Friday where I woke up feeling like it's Saturday... Only to realize that's because I accidentally overslept an hour after setting my alarm for 7:50PM. TGIF. Tony and I started a new diet this week called "being mindful of calories" and "eating healthy." I HATE IT, but am relieved that my clothes are starting to require less force to get myself into them. Tony's brother is coming to town to visit this weekend, and Tony and I have sounded like Bubba in "Forrest Gump" all week, talking about all the places we're going to take him to eat on our Cheat Day. (I am fully aware that so far, this blog is making me sound like Will Ferrell's character in "Old School." Maybe we'll even go to Bed Bath and Beyond!) So far, the list includes donuts, chocolate croissants, bagels with full-fat cream cheese, breakfast burritos, tacos, cupcakes, pizza and pasta. Nick, I hope you're hungry! Aside from our food binge, I'm looking forward to being a hermit in front of the TV on the sofa, catching up on books and "Crazy Ex-Girlfriend." Here's what I'm grateful for this week...View Article
You guys, I am singing "Friday" with even more off-key passion than Rebecca Black over here. Tony's been out of town skiing with his dad for the past few days and I'm not gonna lie, I've gone feral (to be fair, I've also gotten a lot of work done. But, to be fair to Tony, I need to take a shower and put on pants that were designed for something other than eating before he gets home this afternoon.) This weekend, I'm excited to take a make-up masterclass at Violet Grey with my BFF Katierose, catch a movie for a day-date with Tony (only two weekends left to catch him in the Friday/Saturday night shows at Groundlings!) and curl up on the deck with a book or three. Here's what I'm grateful for this week...View Article
