Booze tends to be the go-to holiday gift because, let's face it, it's basically medicine for grown-ups to get through this insane time of year. I like to over-commit myself to projects I don't have the time or skills for, and doing DIY holiday gifts is on my list of regrettable decisions as of late! Last year, I made rosemary simple syrup and gave them with cute little skull-shaped bottles of vodka. This year, I decided to make spicy tequila because I love it and you're supposed to give the things you love, right?!View Article

My bestie came over for a holiday cocktail sleepover! ON A MONDAY BECAUSE WE DON'T HAVE JOBS! It ended with both of us singing two different songs at the same time thinking we were singing the same song, and then me sitting down to write this, so please forgive any and all grammatical errors. Here are four delish recipes to take the edge off the holiday season. HAPPY COCKTAILIDAYS!View Article
'Tis the season for stress, getting sick, freaking out about El Nino, eating and drinking too much and frantically online shopping for presents because I'm a germaphobe who gets anxious in crowded public places. If you're like me, I can't help you with any of the above EXCEPT for online shopping! Here are a few gift ideas for the ladies in your life...View Article
Last night was Tony and my first time hosting Thanksgiving at our home as a married couple (first time hosting ever, actually). It was a dream come true for me, as my favorite things in the world are the holidays and having my house packed with the *people I love (*I consider dogs to be people. We had five in our house. It was glorious.) I've never spent a holiday in Los Angeles before and, I have to say, it was pretty perfect... Somehow, I've lived here for 10 years and this is home now. This year, people came "home" to us. Throughout the week, I cooked up a storm, we volunteered at a few Thanksgiving dinners, my parents were in town, and it all culminated in a house full of good food and the family I was born into, and the family, I chose last night. Days like these remind me I have so much to be grateful for, and here's just a glimpse at a few of those blessings I'm counting right now...View Article
On Saturday, November 21, 2015 - more than a month before Christmas - Tony and I chopped down our first tree as married Cavaleros. I use the term "we" loosely, as I wore high-heeled over-the-knee boots for this occasion, and Tony sawed it down without any help from me. But we're a team now, so WE chopped it down. Before you decide we are what's wrong with America, replacing our Halloween pumpkins with holiday decorations and blasting Mariah Carey's Christmas album while it's still 90 degrees outside, just know that we had to get our tree last weekend. Tony heads out to shoot a movie the morning after Thanksgiving and won't be back until it's practically Christmas. This was our only chance. (But, to be fair and honest, I DID start playing Christmas music on November 1 and drag out our holiday decorations, so you can hate me if you want. #sorrynotsorry)View Article
HAPPY HALLOWEEN, from the Cavaleros to you! Hope you had a more productive morning than I did, wrestling my dogs into costumes and forcing them to endure a fashion shoot... Today's post is a photo essay on how THAT went. Have a safe and spooky weekend packed with too much candy (and wine and pizza and Christmas music on Sunday, if you're me.) X AView Article
Honestly, I'm not crazy about Halloween. On good days, I get to play dress up for a living and it just seems like a lot of effort to put into getting drunk and bingeing on candy. I can do that in my sweatpants any day of the year, and I don't know why I have to dress up like a sexy cat or a loofah in order to do it on October 31. Really, it's the only holiday standing between me and starting to play Christmas music (which will begin promptly at midnight as soon as Halloween is over). However, Tony and I were invited to a Halloween party on Saturday that he reallyreallyreally wants to go to, so I'm trying to figure out what to dress up as without having to actually buy/put effort into anything. Here is what I've come up with so far...View Article
