My dear friend Flo is a hilarious, loyal, big-hearted, bubbly gal from New Zealand who also happens to be a crazy talented singer-songwriter. If you like Joni Mitchell, Jewel, or Taylor Swift, you will LOVE her. She went through a really difficult breakup last year and turned it into this really gorgeous gift of music. I asked her to write a guest piece because with that music she wrote, she is now in the top 40 (of 9,000 people) in a VVVV important competition (think online "American Idol"), and if she wins, she will get to record a 4-song EP with RedOne, perform on Jimmy Kimmel Live! and get $25,000 hot cash money. There is no voting. All you have to do is watch her videos, which is a win for you, too, because they're amazing. Let them be the soundtrack to this beautiful guest piece on heartbreak.View Article

11 months ago, I wrote about all of the things I learned in the 1st month of marriage. Yesterday, Tony and I celebrated our 1st wedding anniversary! So now, here are the things I learned in the 1st year of being newlyweds... (YOU GUYS, I'm gonna milk this opportunity to keep talking about our wedding for all it's worth!)View Article
One year ago today was the best day of my life because I got to marry my best friend, my favorite person in the world. Every cheesy thing about love and weddings and marriage is true. It was the most overwhelming moment of things just feeling right (not to mention the feeling of pure joy). I always used to hate it when people would say about finding your person, "When you know, you know," because I have a hard enough time knowing what clothes to put on or what to eat. How would I just know about who I wanted to spend my life with? But then I met Tony in his short shorts and socks and sandals and something in me just said "Oh, it's you." And he's been making me laugh and feel so very loved every day since. Someone recently told me how rare and lucky it is that I actually like my spouse and he likes me. That bummed me out because it's kind of true, but also reminded me just how lucky I am. We don't just love each other, we also like each other. Any time with him is the best time...View Article
TONY AND I ARE MOVING! (Only 15 min away. Relax. I'm being melodramatic.) We are so excited! It is still in the hills, but closer to civilization. According to friends, we will no longer "live deep in the woods." We will have cell phone reception. Uber and pizza delivery guys will be able to find us. And we will live in a baby-friendly home that is not what all of my mom friends affectionately refer to as a "death trap," like our current place with stairs in every room and industrial railings. (Take a chill pill, Mom and Moms-In-Law - I am not pregnant yet. Nor am I planning to be anytime soon, even though Tony texts me a baby emoticon with a question mark every day. I drank a bottle of champagne solo last night to soothe my nerves.) But when we are ready to expand our family (perhaps to a few more dogs), it is a family friendly house with a big yard that is (hopefully) coyote-proof. It was built in 1939 and was designed by Paul R. Williams. If you don't know who he is, do yourself a favor and read about this incredible architectural pioneer. It has so much history, and we feel like the luckiest people in the world to be next in line as its caretakers. #blessed is 100% the grossest hashtag of all time ever, but that is where we are at right now...View Article
Today, Heels in the Hills' resident mommy blogger Barbara King is writing on a topic that I initially thought was a joke... PRESCHOOL GRADUATIONS. Not a joke. Real. Guys, is this a thing everywhere or only in L.A.? Also, I LOVE IT and all I want in this life is to attend one. Blasting "Graduation (Friends Forever)" as I read this magic!View Article
Earlier this week, I shared Style Me Pretty's post featuring our wedding. I had intended to write a big follow up today, a play-by-play of the day and what it felt like and every single joyful little detail... But, you can read about what made our wedding "Pinterest-y" and "special" over on Style Me Pretty. Today, I want to share what truly made the wedding special: The people who were there. We could have eloped (I think my mom still wishes we had), but I am sososososo glad we did not because it meant we got to share the most intimate and meaningful day of our lives with all of the people who collectively have made us who we are. We spent the entire wedding laughing, and ended the night with everyone in a giant circle scream-singing "Sweet Caroline" while Tony and I danced in the middle. My hair was so sweaty and gross and un-Pinterest-y from dancing, my mom braided the matted mess of my own locks (as well as the hair from some stranger in Italy that became my extensions), and twisted it into an impromptu knot, and I got to have a sweet, unplanned moment of just being her daughter again, letting her do my hair. Tony and I snuck upstairs just to look out the window and watch everyone having the time of their lives at the house we love so much. Every time I looked at him that day, he had tears in his eyes like he couldn't believe his luck, and I hope my face looked the same because I am the lucky one. I have never felt happier or more loved. The day was our dream come true. So, here is the rest of our wedding photo album, not just the "pinnable" details, but the people. (And also the dogs. And a lot of me. And all the cry-photos of Tony, which are my favorite.) Thank you so much for being a part of this wedding with me here!View Article
