Heels in the Hills' resident mommy blogger Barbara King is back with her weekly dose of hilarity on motherhood in Los Angeles, this time tackling WHY L.A. moms just can't seem to let their kids be bored... (And why boredom is so important. An idea I FULLY support. Now excuse me while I go read a pile of trashy gossip mags.)View Article

If you're dying to look like an albino vampire like me, THIS IS YOUR ANSWER! Or, if you want to just be a smart person, lather yourself up in these sunscreens then get a spray tan. (I've tried that and just look like Tan Mom/a lunch shift stripper, and also I'm just lazy, so I stay my natural translucent shade of pale.) There is NO REASON not to wear sunscreen on a daily basis. I am trying to save your life because I am a good person. If that is my one legacy, I'm cool with that - the girl who tried to be a writer/actor, but succeeded in preventing skin cancer for the Heels in the Hills readership of her mom's book club and some super nice strangers who leave super nice messages that serve as verbal antidepressants! Here's what I use, whether it be on the daily, out for a run or at the beach...View Article
There are a few menu items that are impossible for me to pass up. Cacio e pepe? Done. Burrata? Yes please. Guacamole? We’ll take the large. Pesto? Just put it on everything. Cake? Can I have an extra side of frosting with it?? And any watermelon drink… HEAVEN. Tony and I had a few friends over for dinner this weekend, and since it already feels like we’re in the dead heat of summer, we decided to grill out. And nothing goes better with burgers than watermelon. Since I think most drinks taste better with booze, I decided to puree the watermelon into a cocktail. It was such a hit, we kept making batches of it and never even touched the wine…View Article
This swimsuit was MADE FOR ME: It's UPF 50. One-piece. Long-sleeve. Chic (Jaime King recently wore it, to shut down all ya haterrrs!) (I don't know if I have haters. It very likely might just be my mom reading this blog.) (And sometimes her book club.) I recently celebrated my 30th birthday in Mexico, and was looking for a swimsuit that would keep my skin porcelain doll-like and cancer-free, as well as hold in all of the tacos and margaritas I intended to consume. I followed through on that plan hard, and this suit did its job - I returned to Los Angeles without a tan or sunburn, carrying about 10-lbs+ of tacos and tequila on my belly and hips. Melanoma is no joke (especially for people with a family history of skin cancer, like me), and I never leave the house without SPF on. I love that swimsuits like this are not only being made, but celebs like Jaime are making them cool. If you'd told 13-year-old me that I'd be willingly posting pictures of myself in a swimsuit on the internet, I probably would've jumped off a cliff right then to prevent it. But now, this attention-whore is using her soapbox to say this: Summer is coming! Wear your sunscreen! Get a long-sleeve UPF-rich suit! Eat tacos and live your life! K, happy Tuesday, bye.View Article
