{Maggie, the day I brought her home and tried to think of a way to make Tony let me keep her}

I didn’t think there could be a better day than Christmas… But then I heard today is NATIONAL PUPPY DAY!!!!! I don’t understand why people don’t get this holiday off work, so we can roam the streets saving puppies who need homes and forcing our dogs to snuggle. In my heart of hearts, I am an animal hoarder. Were it not for Tony, I would probably (definitely) have an illegal number of dogs. (We’re currently at the legal limit with three.) I want all the puppies. My uncle is a veterinarian and my aunt instilled a passion for pet rescue in me at an early age. My dogs are my children. So, in honor of National Puppy Day, I’m celebrating by sharing these photos of our three puppers and reminiscing about one of the greatest days of my life thus far… The day I adopted Maggie “Fats” Magee while Tony was in Vegas at a bachelor party! (Sorry, Tony. NO REGRETS.)

And for a special throwback, here is Tippi the day we brought her home from the pound:

And Lucy the day I adopted her from the Homeward Bound Golden Retriever Rescue & Sanctuary while I was a student at USC. She was not a golden retriever. I was not allowed to have a dog in my apartment. But we were soulmates, and so I told my landlord my cousin just stopped by with her dog any time we ran into him. (Sidenote: I don’t have any cousins.) It worked. Over the past 8 years, she’s been there for me through four moves, college graduation, break-ups, being single, meeting Tony, getting engaged and (to her disappointment), the addition of her two dog sisters. She is the original baby.
