Guys, I have a confession to make. I bought some pills online and I have no idea what's really in them (Polypodium leucotomos Calaguala extract appears to be the active ingredient), but I'm slurping one down every morning because it's supposed to preserve my youth. Or, technically, help "maintain the skin's ability to protect against sun-related effects and aging." They're called Heliocare Oral Capsules. I'm telling myself that it's basically like drinking sunscreen.View Article

I had a mini panic attack last night around 1am when I realized Father's Day is this weekend, and I have done jack diddly for my sweet dad. ("Jack diddly" is my dad's term for doing absolutely nothing, so I felt it's use was apropos.) I've gone into a feral state of "wedding mode," swapping showers and conversation for obsessive flower girl dress researching (necessary after J.Crew screwed us over) and second-guessing my glassware choices (probably not the best use of my time). And my dad has willingly crawled down that rabbit hole with me; his generous involvement in the planning of the wedding is a blog in and of itself, but let's just say this good ol' Texan is now well versed in the various strains of peonies. My dad is the best. And I almost forgot to send him a Father's Day card. Lucky for me, Postable exists...View Article

I got home from my bachelorette party late last night and it was the happiest, most fun weekend of my life! I've been looking forward to my wedding since I was just a wee toddler with visions of tulle, flower petals and cake behind my eye patch, and it is overwhelming (in the most beautiful way possible) that everything I've looked forward to my entire life is finally, actually happening. And this past weekend was more than I ever dreamed of. I'm still soaking up the memories (and booze), so I'll share all of the pictures and stories from the party later this week. But in the meantime, here are party favors I put together as a small Thank You gift for the epic weekend my friends put together...View Article
I'm feeling like a chicken running around with my head cut off this week. I've turned our dining room table into the Wedding Central Command Station, and am spending my days scrambling to remember everything I need to do, and accomplish it before I forget again. I've written so many To Do lists online and around the house, it's on a few of the To Do lists to find where I put the rest of the To Do lists. I'm so excited for our wedding, but I'm sincerely concerned the day will arrive and I'll remember that morning it was on some To Do list to buy shoes, and I'll have to wander down the aisle barefoot (not that that is a terrible idea... I'd at least be comfortable). I'm trying to cut myself some slack and remember that as long as Tony and I are there, everything will be great. And, I'm trying to make space in my life for the things and people who are important to me, so I don't become a bride robot. Tony and I spent the morning volunteering at CHLA, we're catching a screening of Jurassic World with some friends later today, and I leave for my bachelorette party (!!!!!!!!) tomorrow morning. Things are good, and I'm really lucky. If you feel like your brain is melting, too, here are a few distractions... The clickbait circulating around the internet that got my attention this week:View Article
I'm a total beauty product junkie, and my favorite part about receiving a package from Sephora in the mail isn't the product I actually ordered... It's the samples. Maybe it's my Grandpa Gil's genes (he used to sneak butter dishes out of restaurants to use them for cat food), but nothing gives me a rush like snagging something awesome for free. And beauty products are so expensive these days; I feel like such a chump when I buy something I read was amazing, and it's a let down. Plus, once I find something I like, I stick to it (like that pink dress I wore every day for a year when I was a kid). So, samples are a commitment-free way to test drive something new. And this lipstick, which I discovered through a sample, is my new go-to...View Article
In the latest installment of Coffee With Friends, I'm super excited to introduce you to my dear friend Leah Sprecher, who I met, wrote and performed with in The Groundlings Sunday Company. She's a hilarious triple threat - not only can she write and act, she can also sing and dance (so I guess she's technically a quadruple threat) - and is gorgeous, AND is a former Rockette. But you can't hate her because she's also a kind and wonderful human. She wrote and stars in a one-woman show called "Old Lady Parts" that incorporates all of the above-stated talents, and it is spectacular. I saw it when it first premiered at The Groundlings, and you can see it tomorrow night, June 9th, at The Rockwell here in L.A. (use discount code OLDLADY20 courtesy of Leah!) I'm chatting with her here about how the show came to be, and her advice for aspiring comedians...View Article
