Day to Night Make-up

In honor of the fact that I showered and washed my hair and put on make-up and wore real clothes and not sweats today, I’m sharing this “day to night” make-up look. As my grandmother used to say, I “put my face on” for a friend’s birthday party a few weeks ago and my Instagram Husband (and real life husband) Tony snapped these pics before we left. It was an early evening backyard barbecue, and I wanted to go for something that would still pop in photos and look pretty once it got dark out (but not look like a child beauty pageant contestant in the harsh daylight). Here’s what I used:

FACE

To prep, Revision Vitamin C lotion (30%), followed by EltaMD facial sunscreen. Then, Laura Mercier foundation primer in Radiance, followed by Giorgio Armani SPF 20 foundation (I’m a ghost, and use shade 2). For concealer, I’ve been hooked on NARS radiant creamy concealer since the make-up artist for our wedding used it on me (my shade is Chantilly). For my cheeks, I used NARS blush in Orgasm and Charlotte Tilbury’s Filmstar Bronze & Glow for some light contouring (I learned how to do this in a Violet Grey masterclass, and have been feeling like the Kardashian’s albino cousin ever since. I’m obsessed.)

EYES

First, I curled my lashes with a Utowa lash curler. Then, I used the Dior 5-colour eyeshadow palette in 566 Versailles. I lined my lids with this YSL felt-tip eyeliner pen, which I’ve found to be the easiest/most foolproof pen for drawing on a cat-eye. Then, I lined my waterline with the Smashbox Always Sharp 3D liner in Neptune (I know it doesn’t match the rest of the color scheme, but I once read that if you have blue eyes to line your waterline with navy liner to bring the blue out and I’m a follower, so I’ve been doing it since). Finally, I layered on Serge Lutens mascara on my lashes.

LIPS

Chanel lip definer in 34 Natural, followed by bareMinerals Marvelous Moxie lipstick in Speak Your Mind.
