Tony got a tooth pulled yesterday. When he stumbled into the waiting room with his face completely numb, he asked if he looked okay and I told him, "Honestly, you look a little Sling Blade." But last time I got a tooth pulled, I peed in the car so I'm not really one to talk! Here's what I'm trolling online while the poor patient recovers...View Article

Today, I am most grateful that I woke up in Austin, Texas, one of Tony and my favorite cities on planet Earth. We're not staying at our usual haunt, the Hotel Saint Cecilia, but we are staying at a hotel that offers free margaritas from 4-6pm and has gold ice buckets in the room, so I am a happy lady (and, in a few hours, will be a happy drunk. FREE MARGS, guys. It's the Hotel Van Zandt, if you're wondering.) We're currently in town with my parents supporting my brother and his girlfriend as they compete in the DreamHack competition because my family travels like a herd of wildebeests - if one of us is doing something interesting, everyone else has to come along. We got in last night (Tony was mistaken for a woman at the airport, which made me pee a little from laughing), and as soon as we rolled up, we loaded up on the complimentary booze and went for a stroll along the river. It's shaping up to be a great, food-fueled weekend and I hope yours is just as wonderful! Here's what I'm grateful for right now...View Article
I am supersupersuper excited to share May's Book Club pick, "Modern Lovers" by Emma Straub. Specifically, I am stoked because 1) Along with the rest of the world, I am OBSESSED with Ms. Straub's beautiful writing. 2) "The Vacationers" is one of my all-time favorites, and a book I always recommend when people ask me what to read next. And 3), perhaps most thrillingly of all, I was sent an advance copy of the book to read prior to its release. ADVANCE COPY. This is the fanciest I have felt since Tony and I were sent a box of free meat sprinkles in hopes that we would post a picture of our dogs eating them! I could not put this one down...View Article
My parents were in town from last Wednesday to yesterday morning, which means I ate something green and not deep-fried for the first time in almost a week today. Our house has a thin carpet of dog hair from the 5 canines we collectively live with and up until noon, I thought it was Monday. (It's Wednesday.) Instead of dealing with my life and attempting to be a functional adult in society, I'm trolling the internet. Here's what I'm reading instead of doing the laundry and shoveling the mountain of dog crap in our yard...View Article
In honor of the fact that I showered AND washed my hair AND put on make-up AND wore real clothes and not sweats today, I'm sharing this "day to night" make-up look. As my grandmother used to say, I "put my face on" for a friend's birthday party a few weeks ago and my Instagram Husband (and real life husband) Tony snapped these pics before we left. It was an early evening backyard barbecue, and I wanted to go for something that would still pop in photos and look pretty once it got dark out (but not look like a child beauty pageant contestant in the harsh daylight). Here's what I used...View Article
A few weeks ago, I attended an event at Soho House called SKIN FOOD, hosted by therapeutic skin coach Hayley Roy and health coach Tara Curran. I am a product junkie when it comes to skincare (and a junk food junkie when it comes to nutrition), so my skin tends to be all over the place. I SO loved their advice on approaching skincare from a natural and holistic perspective, focusing more on what you're putting into your body as opposed to dealing with the damage after the fact, that I asked them to jump on Heels in the Hills to share their knowledge and hot tips for glowing, healthy skin...View Article
