The Forbes "30 Under 30" list came out recently, and it hit me like a ton of bricks: I'm turning 30 in less than two months, and the likelihood of making any of those exceedingly popular "under 30" lists is dwindling. FAST. Given the fact that I have trouble working my iPhone and television, I never really expected to create an app or launch a company that would land me on the Forbes list. But I thought my constant, desperate chase for attention would eventually snag me a spot as the wunderkind who starred in the TV show she also wrote. These lists appear in Hollywood all the time, too, and I remember when I was 19 and head over heels in love with my first screenwriting class, thinking it was inevitable that I'd eventually end up on one of them. After all, I had 11 years and a "Rainman"-like focus when it came to writing. And yet, here I am. It's been nearly 11 years, and I've written 11 scripts. Some I'm glad haven't seen the light of day, and others I'm heartbroken (and still have hope that maybe one day they will). But, none of them are landing me on a "30 Under 30" list and, as ridiculous as this sounds, that kind of bums me out. #WHITEPEOPLEPROBLEMS, amiright??View Article

Having that kind of Friday where I woke up feeling like it's Saturday... Only to realize that's because I accidentally overslept an hour after setting my alarm for 7:50PM. TGIF. Tony and I started a new diet this week called "being mindful of calories" and "eating healthy." I HATE IT, but am relieved that my clothes are starting to require less force to get myself into them. Tony's brother is coming to town to visit this weekend, and Tony and I have sounded like Bubba in "Forrest Gump" all week, talking about all the places we're going to take him to eat on our Cheat Day. (I am fully aware that so far, this blog is making me sound like Will Ferrell's character in "Old School." Maybe we'll even go to Bed Bath and Beyond!) So far, the list includes donuts, chocolate croissants, bagels with full-fat cream cheese, breakfast burritos, tacos, cupcakes, pizza and pasta. Nick, I hope you're hungry! Aside from our food binge, I'm looking forward to being a hermit in front of the TV on the sofa, catching up on books and "Crazy Ex-Girlfriend." Here's what I'm grateful for this week...View Article
My favorite L.A. mama, Barbara King, is back in the latest edition of Coffee With Friends, with her take on how New Year's resolutions change after having kids. Like her, it's hilarious and poignant. We're officially 3 weeks into 2016, guys. It's REAL. I'm surviving Dry January (barely) with only minor hallucinations of diving into a pool filled with wine. How is your "New Year New Me" thing going? Here's Barbara, sounding off on her resolutions...View Article
The mission statement for Violet Grey is simple: The best in beauty, from those who know best. The company (founded in 2012 and shopable online and at its flagship store on Melrose Place) is curated by the most in-demand makeup artists in Hollywood, and takes the guesswork out of buying beauty products because they only sell a limited number of products that these professionals actually use on their A-list clients. The site operates as both a blog - with everything to tutorials to celebrity makeup artist profiles (like Emily Blunt's) - to a store, where you can shop the recommended products. And over the long weekend, my BFF Katierose and I took a masterclass from Violet Grey makeup artist Kira Nasrat and editorial director Christina Han. Kira has the personality of Amy Adams in "Enchanted" and Christina used to work at Vogue, and Katierose and I decided immediately we would do anything to be a part of their girl/celeb squad. Here's what we learned (and bought)...View Article
You guys, I am singing "Friday" with even more off-key passion than Rebecca Black over here. Tony's been out of town skiing with his dad for the past few days and I'm not gonna lie, I've gone feral (to be fair, I've also gotten a lot of work done. But, to be fair to Tony, I need to take a shower and put on pants that were designed for something other than eating before he gets home this afternoon.) This weekend, I'm excited to take a make-up masterclass at Violet Grey with my BFF Katierose, catch a movie for a day-date with Tony (only two weekends left to catch him in the Friday/Saturday night shows at Groundlings!) and curl up on the deck with a book or three. Here's what I'm grateful for this week...View Article
I made up this recipe because 1) I love carbs. 2) I'm trying to be healthy(ish). 3) I keep seeing olive oil in ice cream in fancy L.A. shops, and thought it would be a savory replacement for the usual vegetable oil in granola. Spoiler alert: IT WAS (and is) DELISH. Toss it with some yogurt or milk and fresh fruit, put it on top of fro yo, or eat it straight up. Whatever you do, ENJOY!View Article
