In honor of the fact that I showered AND washed my hair AND put on make-up AND wore real clothes and not sweats today, I'm sharing this "day to night" make-up look. As my grandmother used to say, I "put my face on" for a friend's birthday party a few weeks ago and my Instagram Husband (and real life husband) Tony snapped these pics before we left. It was an early evening backyard barbecue, and I wanted to go for something that would still pop in photos and look pretty once it got dark out (but not look like a child beauty pageant contestant in the harsh daylight). Here's what I used...View Article
A few weeks ago, I attended an event at Soho House called SKIN FOOD, hosted by therapeutic skin coach Hayley Roy and health coach Tara Curran. I am a product junkie when it comes to skincare (and a junk food junkie when it comes to nutrition), so my skin tends to be all over the place. I SO loved their advice on approaching skincare from a natural and holistic perspective, focusing more on what you're putting into your body as opposed to dealing with the damage after the fact, that I asked them to jump on Heels in the Hills to share their knowledge and hot tips for glowing, healthy skin...View Article
Earlier this week, I shared Style Me Pretty's post featuring our wedding. I had intended to write a big follow up today, a play-by-play of the day and what it felt like and every single joyful little detail... But, you can read about what made our wedding "Pinterest-y" and "special" over on Style Me Pretty. Today, I want to share what truly made the wedding special: The people who were there. We could have eloped (I think my mom still wishes we had), but I am sososososo glad we did not because it meant we got to share the most intimate and meaningful day of our lives with all of the people who collectively have made us who we are. We spent the entire wedding laughing, and ended the night with everyone in a giant circle scream-singing "Sweet Caroline" while Tony and I danced in the middle. My hair was so sweaty and gross and un-Pinterest-y from dancing, my mom braided the matted mess of my own locks (as well as the hair from some stranger in Italy that became my extensions), and twisted it into an impromptu knot, and I got to have a sweet, unplanned moment of just being her daughter again, letting her do my hair. Tony and I snuck upstairs just to look out the window and watch everyone having the time of their lives at the house we love so much. Every time I looked at him that day, he had tears in his eyes like he couldn't believe his luck, and I hope my face looked the same because I am the lucky one. I have never felt happier or more loved. The day was our dream come true. So, here is the rest of our wedding photo album, not just the "pinnable" details, but the people. (And also the dogs. And a lot of me. And all the cry-photos of Tony, which are my favorite.) Thank you so much for being a part of this wedding with me here!View Article
My co-Maid of Honor Katierose wrote the most hilarious recap of our EPIC weekend in Ojai for my bachelorette party... (Because, you know, I didn't put her to work hard enough actually THROWING the party. She had to write an essay about it, too.) Read about the magic of horoscopes, Oprah, our SPA PENTHOUSE and COMPLIMENTARY CABANAS, and a game involving grapefruits and donuts on a string that I still don't understand... I have the best friends in the world and this weekend was a dream come true.View Article
This has been the second best week of my life, because I get to re-live THE BEST week of my life: Our wedding week in Lake Tahoe! Yesterday, our photos were featured on Style Me Pretty. And today, I am keeping that party going with our wedding video (and wedding DRONE video)! CAN I GO BACK? If you're working on a time machine, shoot me your Kickstarter! Until then, I'm watching these on loop...View Article
This Sunday May 1, Tony and I will be celebrating 9 months of marriage... SO I AM SO EXCITED TO FINALLY SHARE OUR WEDDING PHOTOS!!!!!!!!!!! And I am even more excited that they're being shared exclusively by none other than Style Me Pretty. I repeat: STYLE ME PRETTY!!!!!!!!!!! Typing that sentence just made all of my dreams come true. Well, you know, aside from the dream of marrying the love of my life already coming true. (When Tony proofread this, he told me it's time to "dream bigger." Fair enough.) But if you've been following this blog from the beginning, you know what a Pinterest-obsessed cracked-out wedding fiend I am, and you know how very much this means to me. So get on over to Style Me Pretty (STYLE ME PRETTY!!!!!!!!!!!) to see the first look at photos of #TONANNIEwedding!View Article
Did I ever tell you guys about the time I completely lost my mind and bought two wedding dresses? No? (Probably because I didn't want you to know just how crazy I truly am.) But it's officially WEDDING WEEK up on Heels in the Hills, and I'm kicking it off with this confession. "Bridezilla" is a condition for some; for me, it was a full-blown mental illness that caused me to do things like sleep on the streets of Los Angeles like a homeless woman to be first in line for a wedding dress sample sale. I was 12th in line if I remember correctly, but I still snagged this Vera Wang (and lost my dignity.) If we're being completely honest, I also cried last weekend when it wouldn't fit without Spanx. My sweet husband strong-armed me into it, and then took photos of me (almost 9 MONTHS after we got married) in a gown I never wore in our yard while telling me what a beautiful bride I was. Our neighbors probably thought we were batsh*t crazy. They would not have been wrong...View Article
This week has felt like an insane fever dream. We've been living like we're in college - I had dinner last night at 11:45pm for the second time this week. We've also been living like new parents, waking up every 2 hours because of Tony's bronchitis cough, or my dead panic over the direction of my life (or to check in at 5:30am for jury duty because I forgot). (I am fully aware that if you are a new parent, you both hate me for saying that and are laughing hysterically at how very much I underestimate the lack of sleep that comes with new parenthood). This weekend, I'm looking forward to sleeping like a normal childless human, eating green things and generally behaving like the boring 30-year-old I am. I have some super exciting news to share on the blog next week, so stay tuned! In the meantime, here is what I am grateful for right now...View Article
