My sweet, sweet bestie Barbara King – actress, writer and Mom of the Century – is back with the latest of her series on motherhood in Los Angeles. She wrote this rebuttal to a post I shared a few months ago about my fear of motherhood and everything that comes with it. FULL DISCLAIMER, MOM: I’M (STILL) NOT PREGNANT. I had three delicious cocktails last night, and plan to continue pretending my dogs are my children for just a little while longer. But here’s why Barbara thinks I should throw that plan out the window… Get ready to laugh AND have your heart ripped open with love and ALL THE FEELINGS.View Article
Things I have done today: Take a workout class while it was still dark outside that had me grunting like a bear in labor/dying. Attend a nutrition seminar and learn that all the things I like to eat are bad for me (I knew this already, so I don't know why I subjected myself to it). Eat more leftover brownies from our Valentine's Day weekend binge. Chase my dogs around trying to get them to snuggle me. Troll the internet. Here is my favorite of what I found on the worldwide web this week... HAPPY HUMP DAY!View Article
This weekend, Tony and I celebrated our first Valentine's Day as a married couple! (One of the many fun aspects of being a newlywed is you get to call every mundane thing a "first," annoying EVERYONE). Since it fell on a long weekend, we decided to drag the celebration out over three days. To us, the word "celebrate" means eating too much in sweatpants, which is exactly how we rocked our 3-day-V-Day... I'm keeping it going, inhaling a leftover brownie as I write this. And because Tony is the most romantic person I've ever met, he woke me up with a gift every morning. In general, I think taking Valentine's Day too seriously is silly; trying to make it the most ROMANTIC.DAY.EVER. puts too much pressure on everyone. But, I like any excuse to focus on love, whatever that means to you - and to us, it meant low-key time spent together with our dogs and friends, eating and laughing.View Article
HAPPY HEART DAY LONG WEEKEND, LOVERS! I'm so excited for a 3-day bender of sleeping, eating and time with the hubs and our besties. We've packed our weekend with the best things in life: I'm hiking and brunching with an old friend I haven't seen since our wedding, we're catching "Zoolander 2" on a triple date, having friends over for a pizza night so we can hear all about the honeymoon they just got home from, and hosting a Valentine's Day double date. We're grilling out and cooking dinner at home in our fanciest sweats, then parking ourselves in front of the TV to catch the mid-season premiere of "The Walking Dead." Here's what I'm grateful for right now, in this unseasonably warm February week in LA LA Land...View Article
My friend Christie Bishop (a badass businesslady boss in the corporate world and wife of "The Adam Carrolla Show"'s Bryan "Bald Bryan" Bishop) calls cooking a "hobby," but eating at her house is like eating at a restaurant. Do you remember the salted caramel peanut butter cup brownies she made for my bachelorette party? I do. I dream of them most nights. I love pasta with a passion most people save for humans, so the idea of shredding up a zucchini and calling it "pasta" sounds like blasphemy. But, Christie does it and I like to do whatever Christie does, so I Amazon Prime'd myself a spiralizer. Here is her favorite way to get your veggies in and indulge in "healthy" pasta...View Article
This week has been cray cray slammed because I finally got a real job that pays actual money (!!!) for the next few weeks, so I haven't had much time to troll the internet... But here's the clickbait that got me while I was inhaling a chocolate croissant this AM/waiting for my Xanax to kick in last night. HAPPY HUMP DAY, lovers! (ps Do you hate me for saying "cray cray?" I do!)View Article
Tony and I are low-key when it comes to Valentine's Day (one of the few times in my life I can honestly say I'm "low-key.") Restaurants are packed, the waitstaff is stressed out and the prixe fixe menus are obscenely expensive. That, coupled with the immense amount of pressure to make this the most romantic night of the year, is a recipe for disaster. That said, I LOVE Valentine's Day! It bums me out when people say it's just a Hallmark holiday. Why not have a day to celebrate love, however you have it in your life -- your partner, friends, kids or pets? I love embracing all of the other cheesy holiday cliches: Flowers, candy, sweet notes and lots of pink. For Tony and me, celebrating means spending time outside with our dogs, whether it be a hike or a picnic, and cooking dinner at home before curling up in front of the TV. Sure, we do this most days... But on Valentine's Day, Tony eats carbs and I put on my nice sweatpants. It's a win for everyone. Still, this girl loves presents (you show me a girl who doesn't and I'll show you a liar), and a few people have emailed me to see what I'm getting Tony this year, so I thought I'd put together a gift guide. Here are a few ideas for the loves of your life, whether it be your lady, boyf or bestie (for the love of love, do NOT forget your single friends who want to crawl into a time machine and come out February 15). Happy Heart Day, lovies!View Article
