After my Veuve-and-slider-station bender this past weekend, it's time to crawl back onto the "fit into my wedding dress" wagon. My friend Kim is pictured above, so it goes without saying she knows what to eat to look like that. (You can check out her other fave smoothie recipe here.) She shared this recipe to help a girl out. It didn't have a name when she emailed it, so I'm taking full credit for that (sorry, Kim.) Maybe if this blog doesn't work out, I'll pursue a career in smoothie naming. Is Jamba Juice even around anymore? I'm getting sidetracked... Here's what to blend to get a body like Kim! It serves 2, so you can share with your lover or eat both yourself.View Article
Guys, I am fully aware that it is no longer spring and is, in fact, past the 4th of July and deep into summer. Like, 3 1/2 weeks away from our wedding into summer. Right now, juggling the final details of planning (like how to procure affordable AND natural-looking hair extensions, and figuring out where we can "borrow" WiFi for the photo booth) are at the top of my priority list. Me taking a shower and changing out of sweatpants is at the top of Tony's priority list. Recently(ish), I saw Vogue's piece on the best lipsticks for spring and decided to try them out myself. Then, I totally forgot to share the pictures until I ran out of storage on my phone because it's clogged with selfies of me in my wedding dress, and discovered these photos. I need to get my shit together. But, I'm of the mindset that lipsticks shouldn't be "seasonal" because they're really expensive and my frugal grandfather taught me to clean my plate, and I'm applying that mentality to make up and plan to use them until they're gone, not until the weather changes. So, here is how Vogue's picks stack up for me...View Article
Tony and I had a relaxing Santa Barbara getaway this long weekend, where we got to recharge and watch my dear friend Berkeley (little sister of my lifelong bestie and co-MOH Jax) marry her love Jack. It was such a happy, emotional weekend; Berkeley and Jax are like family to me. I've known Berkeley since she was born. We share an obsession with rescuing and collecting homeless animals. She and Jax grew up down the street from us, and Berkeley once snuck over and tried to rollerblade away with our family's cat. My dad officiated Jax's wedding, and we were co-MOH's and co-conspirators for that epic Napa wedding. So, it was the most beautiful thing to watch her marry the sweetest, funniest man whose family adores her as much as he does (and we do).View Article
Tony and I (emphasis on I) recently decided to remodel our guest bedroom and turn it into the master bedroom. I've been in our place for nearly six years, and it just felt like it was time for a change. Lucky for me, one of my best friends, Amber McDermitt, is an interior designer and co-owner of Spruce Design & Organization, and she agreed to help me transform our new bedroom. I told her I wanted to live inside of Pinterest, and I'm so happy with how it turned out!View Article
We are getting married exactly ONE MONTH FROM TODAY. Today I had my wedding beauty trial AND my second dress fitting AND went to Tony's tuxedo fitting... My life has officially been taken over by the wedding. When I'm not scouring the internet for gold house numbers for a little DIY project I (Tony) will be attacking or pondering Xanax, here are a few articles I've been distracting myself with as of late. HAPPY HUMP DAY!View Article
Guys, I have two words for you this Tuesday AM: WEDDING DRONES!!!!!!!! Here is video footage of the dream house that Tony and I will be getting married at EXACTLY ONE MONTH FROM TOMORROW. And yes, there WILL be drones at the wedding... Because nothing says "wedding" like DRONES, right?!?!?! (I know I'm losing my mind. I'll come back to reality August 2. Promise. Thanks for bearing with me.)View Article
Got the Monday blues? Watch this, it will make you feel better! Depending on where you work, probably NSFW (unless you're living the carny lifestyle of chasing dreams in Hollywood, and your "office" is your dining room table. Like yours truly.) My friend Jimmy Fowlie originally performed this Chaz Dean impersonation in the Groundlings Sunday Company, and recently filmed it in Tony and my backyard. Tippi, Maggie and I make cameos, but Lucy has the real star turn as "Coconut Head." ENJOY.View Article
LOVE WINS!!!!!!!!! You guys, I am in tears. It is outrageous and disturbing that this took so long and was ever a question to begin with and not a natural right, but my heart is bursting with happiness that the Supreme Court sided with reason, rationality and love: Marriage is now legal for everyone, everywhere in the United States. States cannot ban same-sex marriage. I can't wait to tell my kids about this momentous day one day, and for them to roll their eyes and be like, "You're so old, Mom. Obviously anyone who wants to get married should be able to! How were you even alive when that wasn't allowed? Wasn't that, like, in the Dark Ages?"View Article
