I left the house for the first time last night since Sunday and wrote "September 9, 2016" on a check today. But my parents are living it up in Japan - and since I have nothing in my own life to share with you today, I thought I would share their amazing pictures instead. Despite the fact that my dad doesn't like fish or rice, they look like they're having the best time. I'm told (by everyone) I have enough dogs, but I would really love it if they could bring me a monkey home...View Article

Heels in the Hills' resident mommy blogger Barbara King is back for her weekly post on motherhood in Los Angeles... And she continues to straight up kill the Pinterest game. HOW CUTE IS THIS 1ST DAY OF KINDERGARTEN PIC OF HER DAUGHTER. (Statement, not a question, obviously. I mean, look. She is perfection.)View Article
I am always late. My bridesmaids included this fact in the poem they wrote and read at our engagement party, and I think both of my Maids of Honor mentioned it in their speeches at our wedding. I should probably take a lesson from this blog, BUT I'M RUNNING LATE TO GO TO A CONCERT SO I HAVE TO GO BYE! Here's Heels in the Hills' resident mommy blogger Barbara King on how to never be late again...View Article
Meilee Wong Earnest and I have been friends for nearly two decades (WHAT.) She was Editor in Chief of our high school's newspaper the year before me, and has been inspiring me ever since. For years, I've been tracking her rise in the DC scene (in my mind, she is basically Olivia Pope without all the drama), and she recently moved to Brazil for her husband's job serving our country as an Economic Officer in the Foreign Service. Since she always has the best advice and insight via her Facebook status comments, I reached out and asked her to write a guest piece about marriage and life's unexpected curveballs (and blessings). Read on, then thank her and her husband for their service! Then follow their dog Douglas on Instagram! Thank you, Meilee.View Article
"Back to School" season gives me anxiety. Even though I don't HAVE to go back to school ever again (although every time I cry about my career, my parents suggest grad school!) - I still get that feeling of dread in my stomach. I usually faced my fears by doing something crazy like perming my hair, spray tanning only my legs, or getting an eyebrow wax (that ripped the skin off along with the hair.) But luckily, my bestie/best mom Barbara King LOVES back to school season, and is establishing a much healthier (and Pinterest-worthy) approach to her daughter starting kindergarten with THE CUTEST study nook...View Article
I've shared before about my distaste for camping - I've only been twice in my life, and the first time (as a kid) I asked the park ranger where the room service menu was. I KNOW, I'm AWFUL. But my bestie Barbara King makes a pretty good case for taking kids camping. And since I pretty much want to model all of my (future) parenting choices on whatever she does, maybe I will one day be convinced to take my kids camping, too...View Article
This week, Heels in the Hills' resident mommy blogger (and one of the most loving, selfless, inspiring and dedicated mommies I know) Barbara King is sharing a hilarious ode to televisions everywhere. Here is her open letter apology for writing them off pre-kids... (I know I won't be that good of a mom to even PRETEND I will write TV off. I'm already looking forward to putting the TV on for my kids. When I was a kid, I loved "Reading Rainbow," and also "Cry Baby" starring Johnny Depp. They will appreciate that kind of art, too.)View Article
