Tony and I spent a long weekend in Washington D.C. visiting his family, and had so much fun I'm dedicating today's gratitude list entirely to that trip. We got to attend his niece's 6th birthday party, eat cake every day and even play tourists with a day of museum-hopping. I'm not a morning person (understatement of the century), but there is no better alarm clock in the world than two little kids crawling into bed to snuggle and say, "I love you, Aunt Annie." HEAVEN. We're back home now playing catch-up (I finally figured out what day it is - FRIDAY!!!!), and trying to work off some of that cake (I dragged Tony to a dance class last night. He was better than me.) Here are some of the moments in D.C. I'm grateful for...View Article

For the latest installment of Coffee With Friends, guest blogger (and one of my best friends // mother to our flower girl Matisse) Barbara King is back with her series on mommyhood in L.A. Even though I don't have kids, I can totally relate to her obsession with taking the perfect holiday photo... Luckily for my dogs, they already posed for photos at our wedding so they got a year off from having to dress up and visit Santa in their stupid dog-elf outfits that I love so much. Here's Barbara's take on getting that perfect Pinterest-worthy pic AT ALL COSTS.View Article
For the latest edition of Coffee With Friends, I'm SUPER excited to introduce this guest blog by one of my best friends, Barbara King. She's an actress, mommy extraordinaire, member of my bridal party and mother of Matisse, our flower girl/child I pretend is mine when Barbara's not around. Anytime Barbara and I get together, the conversation inevitably turns to the topic of raising kids in L.A. I'm terrified of it, and she is rocking it. She's got a pretty hilarious take on motherhood here in Hollywood, so I asked her to write a series about it for Heels in the Hills. Here is her first installment, "10 Questions L.A. Kids Have Asked Me"!View Article
On Saturday, November 21, 2015 - more than a month before Christmas - Tony and I chopped down our first tree as married Cavaleros. I use the term "we" loosely, as I wore high-heeled over-the-knee boots for this occasion, and Tony sawed it down without any help from me. But we're a team now, so WE chopped it down. Before you decide we are what's wrong with America, replacing our Halloween pumpkins with holiday decorations and blasting Mariah Carey's Christmas album while it's still 90 degrees outside, just know that we had to get our tree last weekend. Tony heads out to shoot a movie the morning after Thanksgiving and won't be back until it's practically Christmas. This was our only chance. (But, to be fair and honest, I DID start playing Christmas music on November 1 and drag out our holiday decorations, so you can hate me if you want. #sorrynotsorry)View Article
Tony and I had a relaxing Santa Barbara getaway this long weekend, where we got to recharge and watch my dear friend Berkeley (little sister of my lifelong bestie and co-MOH Jax) marry her love Jack. It was such a happy, emotional weekend; Berkeley and Jax are like family to me. I've known Berkeley since she was born. We share an obsession with rescuing and collecting homeless animals. She and Jax grew up down the street from us, and Berkeley once snuck over and tried to rollerblade away with our family's cat. My dad officiated Jax's wedding, and we were co-MOH's and co-conspirators for that epic Napa wedding. So, it was the most beautiful thing to watch her marry the sweetest, funniest man whose family adores her as much as he does (and we do).View Article
My dad's genius godson Tommy graduated from law school and business school and passed the bar this weekend. He's my dad's best friend Bill's son, and like a brother to me. I'm almost exactly a year older, so I can technically say I've known him since he was born, even though neither of us remember meeting each other. He's probably the most accomplished person I know... All I accomplished this weekend was eating my own weight in tacos, fried chicken and cocktails. But it was worth it, for a weekend long celebration with Tommy's family in town. I love the family I was born into, but I'm doubly lucky to have such a loving extended family of people who (while not blood relatives) are like second parents and brothers to me. (I just wish I actually was related to Tommy's mom Barb, because she can do the splits and I can't even touch my toes.) Here are a few "snaps," as Barb likes to say, from our weekend...View Article
Tony and I got back from Davis last night, just in time to perform in two shows - him in American Town Hall and me in Bad Company at The Groundlings. (Is that grammar correct? I don't know. We were out celebrating/eating cheese fries until 2am and I haven't had my coffee yet. Mom will email me to let me know if it's not.) Both shows were a stupid amount of fun. As was our trip to Davis... We got to spend some much-needed quality time with my family, check lots off the wedding To Do list, and eat so much you'd never know I recently suffered through a juice cleanse and Tony suffered through a wicked bout of food poisoning. I'd like to say I'm going to chase down the wagon and crawl back onto it immediately, but the truth is I will probably continue my binge streak through the weekend... I'm forcing my girlfriends to come over to participate in Bridezillannie's Wedding DIY Sweatshop, and I'm planning to make lots of treats to take the edge off. I hope yours is full of manic DIY'ing, wine and bestie time, too! Happy weekend!View Article
