The first week back after the holidays is always a beast. Physically dragging my hungover, cake-stuffed self onto a treadmill and forcing it to run felt like a metaphor for pretty much everything this week; it all took longer than normal, was sweatier than normal and had a real and true lack of wine (spoiler alert: Dry January BLOWS.) In the midst of trying to climb back on the horse // get back on the wagon // get my sh*t together, though, I still found moments for fun. Last night, Tony and I had dinner with his dad and stepmom at Union, a restaurant I've been dying to try, and I pretended that not drinking for a month gave me carte blanche to inhale a bowl of buttery pasta and still be "on a diet." (#worthit) Afterward, we drove around South Pasadena with all the windows down, listening to music and fantasizing about what it would be like to live there (probably a lot like living in "Father of the Bride," I would imagine.) It was a cozy and sweet way to end a hectic week. Today, we're going to a Golden Globes event where I'm told I'll get my hair and nails done simply because I'm Mrs. Cavalero (gonna ride them coattails down any red carpet we're allowed!!), and this weekend I'm looking forward to curling up with a book, watching the Globes on Sunday with friends and continuing to find excuses not to unpack from the holidays. HAPPY WEEKEND! Here's what I'm grateful for right now...View Article

This photo was taken the moment before, mouth full of breakfast taco, I asked Tony to run out and get us doughnuts while I showered. (He did. He also got up early, so I had an iced latte in front of my face when I woke up, even though he's had mostly night shoots this week. And he fetched me this strawberry jalapeno juice that is presently lighting up my life.) It's my last night here in Texas visiting him before I head back to L.A. to begin a holiday baking, DIY-gift-making bender. It's been a really happy few days; while I guess it is true that absence makes the heart grow fonder, there is nothing better than being in the same city, falling asleep next to my husband. And also having him bring me a constant flow of food. HAPPY WEEKEND! Here's what I'm grateful for this week...View Article
Last night was Tony and my first time hosting Thanksgiving at our home as a married couple (first time hosting ever, actually). It was a dream come true for me, as my favorite things in the world are the holidays and having my house packed with the *people I love (*I consider dogs to be people. We had five in our house. It was glorious.) I've never spent a holiday in Los Angeles before and, I have to say, it was pretty perfect... Somehow, I've lived here for 10 years and this is home now. This year, people came "home" to us. Throughout the week, I cooked up a storm, we volunteered at a few Thanksgiving dinners, my parents were in town, and it all culminated in a house full of good food and the family I was born into, and the family, I chose last night. Days like these remind me I have so much to be grateful for, and here's just a glimpse at a few of those blessings I'm counting right now...View Article
