I started last year taking a step back from this blog to focus on what I moved to this crazy town to do in the first place: Writing scripts for the big screen (and small screen, and screen in your pocket - any screen that will produce my work so my mom can tell her book club her daughter has a JOB!!!) So, I am feeling very happy and very grateful to have ended 2017 with the release of the web series I worked on as Co-Executive Producer, OVERDUE for Awestruck. Hollywood is hard for all sorts of superficial reasons that nonetheless hurt your heart and soul, and it's also hard for the reasons that have (finally finally finally) been in the news this year. I hope real, lasting, impactful change is coming. I think it is. I am excited to see what 2018 has in store, and I am V excited to share this show I worked so hard on with so many fiercely talented people!View Article
2017 has been a real bitch, no? The events of this year, policies of this administration and treatment of women in Hollywood (and in this country) (and in the world) have left me depressed, outraged and generally feeling at a loss. So when my fiercely talented friend Laura Bell Bundy decided to actually do something about the current state of affairs and reached out to see if I wanted to help write for a benefit concert she was putting together called DOUBLE STANDARDS to celebrate women and raise money for the organizations protecting, empowering and supporting women (Planned Parenthood, the ACLU, and the Breast Cancer Coalition), I was all in. Laura Bell is a living example of what can be accomplished when women in power help other women, and is an all-around badass boss bitch. So it's no surprise she was able to get this powerhouse group of ladies together. I was fortunate to get to collaborate on her opening monologue, and she generously agreed to let me share our extended, uncut first draft here!View Article
Tony and I got to be special guests on this week's episode of Anne Lane and Stephanie Ritter's Dogs We Saw This Week podcast, "Playing Hard To Pet." They are two funny ladies who love dogs but do not own dogs, so they get together to discuss and rate the dogs they see each week. Listen to hear about the 5 hours I spent stalking puppies on the Paramount lot, Tony's favorite cats to follow on Instagram and Lucy, Tippi and Maggie being Very Good Dogs while we recorded in our living room. If you want pics (of us and our dogs podcasting, or any dog Anne and Stephanie have seen in real life or on the internet, email them at dogswesawthisweek@gmail.com!) View Article
My friend Veronica Sinclair is THE QUEEN of Hollywood makeup. If I had all the money, I would put her on retainer and pay her to do my makeup and hair every day. She's sweet, fun and makes me feel like a million bucks. (I'm not the only one - check out her Instagram for the celebs she styles.) She's dolled me up for every special occasion in my life for the past few years, including our wedding, and I was so happy with my look for the Creative Arts Emmys last weekend, I asked her to share the makeup products she used...View Article
Anyone else as obsessed with "Bad Moms" as I am? Tony and I recently saw it with some friends a week ago, and I keep thinking about it. Working in comedy, we can be a bit cynical (and/or jealous) of what's getting made, and we usually opt for thrillers, dramas or thriller/drama TV shows because those are just pure entertainment to us, and we're not comparing ourselves and our work to them. But I left this one feeling inspired, and excited to work on my own scripts again. It was SO GOOD.View Article
