Detox Diary: Day 3 of My Juice Cleanse

April 16, 2015 1:21 pm Published by 2 Comments

On the last day of my juice cleanse. Wrote more cohesively about Day 1 + Day 2. Can't think straight now. Trying to sleep as much as possible, so I can just wake up when it's over. Dogs are eating their breakfast right now. The smell and sounds of them chewing are making me drool. The inside of my mind is a foggy fever dream that looks sort of like this...View Article

Detox Diary: Day 2 of My Juice Cleanse

Threw these cupcakes from last Friday away because it hurt to look at them. Stared at them in the garbage for a long time. Took a picture and made art. Still thinking about cupcakes... Can you tell I started my first juice cleanse yesterday?? (I don't DO juice cleanses. You can read my feelings on them in yesterday's post.) Day Two update on how I am surviving...View Article

Detox Diary: Day 1 of My Juice Cleanse

I’ve lived in L.A. long enough. It’s time for me to embrace the culture, become a part of the cliché. I’m going on a juice cleanse. This will be my own personal “Heart of Darkness,” my "Apocalypse Now." I’m about to descend into madness. Only my obsession won’t be Kurtz, it will be fitting into my wedding dress. “Bridezilla” is sort of like mad cow disease for humans, and I’ve caught it. My wedding is a little over 3 months away. It’s time to go big, go hard or go home (*insert lots of other sports references here.) I just want to weigh what my driver’s license says I weigh. And for my face to glow in a way that is difficult to achieve with the amount of salt and fried things I consume.View Article

Rose Bowl Flea Market Finds

April 13, 2015 6:18 pm Published by 2 Comments

Tony and I are in the midst of updating our house with some minor remodeling and redecorating. I've lived here since 2010, and have outgrown my obsessive passion for studded everything. (Also, the dogs have chewed up a lot of things.) It's time for a facelift. It all started this summer, when I had a nervous breakdown before our engagement party and thought repainting our blue accent walls grey would make me feel better. Now, I'm slowly turning into William Randolph Hearst; as soon as we finish one project, I start brainstorming what to transform next. Tony is loving it. (*This is a lie. But he's being a really good sport.) I'll be sharing pictures of the finished projects on the blog over the coming months, starting with yesterday's sweet snags at the Rose Bowl Flea Market.View Article

Spring Florals

April 10, 2015 12:04 pm Published by 2 Comments

This Easter was the first year I spent the holiday without my parents. (We're a pretty tight-knit family. They visit at least once a month with their two giant beast-dogs, and usually stay for a week. The fact that Tony is not only cool with this, but says he likes it, is reason #13,305 I can't wait to marry him.) So, this year we decided to worship at the church of Hollywood douchebags, Soho House, with my brother Billy and godbrother Tommy. We ogled famous people, stuffed our faces with chocolate croissants, various meats, pasta, cake and ice cream (because it's not like I have to fit in a wedding dress in less than four months), and pulled over for this photo shoot on the way home (that's why the dress is wrinkled, and has a few butter stains. Sorry.) This is our favorite spot in our neighborhood in the hills, where we try to walk our dogs every day. I love it because of the view, and also because I have to walk past JC Chasez's house to get there and sometimes he says hi to me. Tony bought me this beautiful dress at the Topshop Coachella event we went to last week, and I can't wait to wear it to death this spring...View Article

Tony’s SCHOOL OF ROCK Trailer

April 8, 2015 11:54 am Published by 6 Comments

For Tony's Valentine's Day gift this year, I decorated his "School of Rock" trailer and stocked it with his favorite things. I had so much fun putting it all together. Stepford Wife adrenaline was coursing through my veins. I was channeling Martha Stewart as my spirit animal. I even thought about cleaning the house when I got home (thank god that madness passed!) Here is the little home away from home I put together for Tony on the Paramount lot...View Article

April Book Club: ARTICLES CLUB

April 7, 2015 11:12 am Published by 2 Comments

I'm hopelessly behind on my one-woman internet book club. So, this month I'm taking a page out of one of my favorite writer's book (blog) and declaring this month an Articles Club! I first read about the idea on A Cup of Jo. Her manifesto: "An articles club would be just like a book club, but we'll read articles. We'd all read the same story--from, say, The New Yorker or Elle--and chat over wine and snacks. It would be fascinating, timely and a much easier commitment than a book club (because, honestly, who ever finishes the book on time?)" I know I certainly don't.View Article
