In the latest installment of Coffee With Friends, I'm chatting with Ariane Price, one of the funniest ladies I know whose one-woman show, "There Will Be Blood," is TONIGHT at The Groundlings Theatre! As stated on the poster, she bills it: "From losing my mom to becoming a mom and all the heinous, awkward, coming of age hilarity in between." I caught the premiere, and it was incredible - it made me cry from laughing and cry from feeling all the feelings. Ariane was sweet enough to chat with me in anticipation of tonight's show, and share her experiences and advice on getting into comedy in Hollywood...View Article
In honor of Mother's Day, I'm re-sharing the blog I wrote last year about lessons I've learned from my mom. But, I'm home for Mother's Day this year, even though my mom is not (she's out of town and I was in town for my friend Ali's bachelorette party). So, instead, I'm perusing the baby diary she kept about me. Here are a few highlights...View Article
Last night I was lucky enough to get to perform in MOMCOM, a sketch show of mom-themed sketches my friend Corey produced and Paula directed, at the Groundlings Theatre last night in honor of Mother's Day. It was some of the most fun I have ever had on stage, with my best friends and some of the most talented people in Hollywood. Here are a few glam photos (heavy on the camel toe) to send you off into your Mother's Day weekend!View Article
I am not a naturally organized person. It is really really really difficult for me, and usually the closest I come to neatness is "organized" piles that only I can understand. And if one gets moved, everything falls apart because there is no real system. (I understand this makes me a candidate for "Hoarders." Please don't submit me yet. I'm working on it.) Tony is a saint for putting up with it, especially since he went to a military college and is one of the neatest people I have ever met. It's easy for him to throw things away, whereas I have emotional attachments to everything from a ratty sorority T-shirt that doesn't even fit me anymore to expired biscuit mix I bought in Alaska when I was in college, but never baked because I was saving it for a special occasion. (Again, please do not submit me to "Hoarders." I'M WORKING ON IT.) Which is why this app is saving my life...View Article
Tony and I tried out a new spot down the hill from us, Mainland Poke Shop, last night and we are obsessed. We went to Hawaii on a practice honeymoon with my parents last year and fell in love with poke; it is the ideal meal for a meathead like Tony, as it is just chunks of fresh raw fish doused in delicious sauce, maybe mixed in with some avocado or green onions... It is light, healthy and addictive. And as I’m trying to wrap my belly around the fact that the wedding is in less than three months and I need to stop eating frosting daily, throwing some poke into the mix sounds like a healthy and wise choice. I need to fit in the dress I bought. And I am not doing another juice cleanse...View Article
Anytime you receive an email that starts off with "Hi beauties!!!!" and has a wedding-related subject line, you know you're in for something awful. And a few of the friends I love most in this world, when I invited/harassed them to participate in a "Wedding Sweatshop Wino Night" this past Sunday. Only it wasn't just a night, it was a day. I offered them wine, champagne, snacks, pizza and cupcakes in exchange for a day of free labor assembling hundreds of DIY projects while listening to me vent about wedding drama. And they agreed...View Article
In honor of Mother's Day, this month's book club pick is "Mother, Mother" by Koren Zailckas. It's a thriller about an evil, controlling mother who will stop at nothing to preserve her family's "perfect" facade. HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY, MOTHER!!!!! (All the rest of ya'll: Don't forget, it's this Sunday May 10. Don't forget to buy a gift, candy, flowers and a card that waxes poetic about how you'll never be half the woman she is. You could even give your mother this book, if you're passive aggressive like me and my mother!) (Related fun fact: The author also wrote the book "Smashed," which my mother would say is an ideal pick for Daughter's Day. Which should be a holiday, if you ask me.)View Article
Tony and I got back from Davis last night, just in time to perform in two shows - him in American Town Hall and me in Bad Company at The Groundlings. (Is that grammar correct? I don't know. We were out celebrating/eating cheese fries until 2am and I haven't had my coffee yet. Mom will email me to let me know if it's not.) Both shows were a stupid amount of fun. As was our trip to Davis... We got to spend some much-needed quality time with my family, check lots off the wedding To Do list, and eat so much you'd never know I recently suffered through a juice cleanse and Tony suffered through a wicked bout of food poisoning. I'd like to say I'm going to chase down the wagon and crawl back onto it immediately, but the truth is I will probably continue my binge streak through the weekend... I'm forcing my girlfriends to come over to participate in Bridezillannie's Wedding DIY Sweatshop, and I'm planning to make lots of treats to take the edge off. I hope yours is full of manic DIY'ing, wine and bestie time, too! Happy weekend!View Article
