Sorry for the lack of posting yesterday - Tony wraps the second season of "School of Rock" today and I was wife-ing it up helping him buy gifts (and also visiting set as soon as I heard Coolhaus was there handing out ice cream sandwiches). If you want to waste some of your life trolling the internet today, here's some stuff to read! HAPPY HUMP DAY IS IT FRIDAY YET!View Article
Meilee Wong Earnest and I have been friends for nearly two decades (WHAT.) She was Editor in Chief of our high school's newspaper the year before me, and has been inspiring me ever since. For years, I've been tracking her rise in the DC scene (in my mind, she is basically Olivia Pope without all the drama), and she recently moved to Brazil for her husband's job serving our country as an Economic Officer in the Foreign Service. Since she always has the best advice and insight via her Facebook status comments, I reached out and asked her to write a guest piece about marriage and life's unexpected curveballs (and blessings). Read on, then thank her and her husband for their service! Then follow their dog Douglas on Instagram! Thank you, Meilee.View Article
Went to write this week's gratitude list and from all the pictures I took, it looks like all I'm grateful for is my house and food. I'm also grateful for my dogs, husband, family and friends (not necessarily in that order), but here is what I chose to memorialize with my iPhone... We've got a big weekend ahead of more food, the Rose Bowl flea market and hosting the "School of Rock" kids for a movie night. You up to anything fun? Invite me, I have FOMO. TGIF HAPPY WEEKEND!!!!View Article
This week Barbara King, Heels in the Hills' resident mommy blogger, is sharing her tips on back to school gear. These are WAY cooler than the wheelie backpack I dragged around like I was about to board a plane (not hit debate team practice)... Here are her picks on the best school swag to snag before the 1st day!View Article
Anyone else as obsessed with "Bad Moms" as I am? Tony and I recently saw it with some friends a week ago, and I keep thinking about it. Working in comedy, we can be a bit cynical (and/or jealous) of what's getting made, and we usually opt for thrillers, dramas or thriller/drama TV shows because those are just pure entertainment to us, and we're not comparing ourselves and our work to them. But I left this one feeling inspired, and excited to work on my own scripts again. It was SO GOOD.View Article
Sorry this gratitude list is coming in so late, I had an audition in Santa Monica that turned into a day-long road trip! (For real. 11 miles in Los Angeles is like visiting a different state. Man, L.A. traffic jokes are so original, right?!) (Also, I didn't write it this morning because I overslept, and prioritized showering and eating year-old wedding cake that we defrosted a week ago. I hope I don't die.) This week, I am grateful that my foot is finally feeling better after spraining my ankle last Saturday, and also that it's given me an excuse to spend most of my time in bed, eating. I'm also grateful that while I was drunk the other night, my friend convinced me to sign up for a half-marathon in November, which will give me an excuse to exercise again once my foot doesn't look like a rotting eggplant. (Hope you enjoyed that visual!) I haven't ever run more than 7 miles, so we'll see how that goes. Maybe I'll wear a diaper like ultra-marathoners! This weekend, I'm looking forward to more eating in bed and some low-key hangs with friends. HAPPY FRIDAY! Here are the other things making me happy right now...View Article
